Job description

Spacelift is hiring a Platform Engineer (Remote) — a full-time, remote role. Apply directly on Spacelift's careers page below.

Spacelift is the infrastructure orchestration platform built for the modern software era, managing the full lifecycle for both traditional IaC and AI-accelerated infrastructure. It integrates with Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, Pulumi, and Ansible in a single governed workflow so you deliver secure, compliant infrastructure at scale. Developer self-service, Golden Paths with guardrails, an OPA policy engine, and drift detection accelerate developer velocity while maintaining control. Spacelift Intelligence adds AI-powered provisioning and diagnostics across traditional and AI-driven workflows.

Spacelift was founded in 2020 by long-time DevOps practitioner Marcin Wyszynski and successful entrepreneur Pawel Hytry and has raised $82.3M in funding over four rounds from top venture capital firms including Insight Partners, Blossom Capital, Hoxton Ventures, Inovo Venture partners and Five Elms Capital.

The role

  • Build and own the platform that powers all of Spacelift - from CI/CD to observability to incident response

  • Improve our code delivery pipeline: reduce friction, tighten feedback loops, eliminate flakiness

  • Strengthen our SLOs and observability posture - give every team better signals

  • Sharpen our on-call experience by improving alert quality, response speed, and postmortem hygiene

  • Optimise platform cost and scaling behaviour across workloads and regions

  • Own developer experience internally: from local dev to debugging production

  • Keep learning about our problem space

  • You build it, you run it - you will also be part of the on-call rotation

About You

  • Passion for building products, love for tech, and interest in the problem space (DevOps, Platform Engineering, and Developer Experience)

  • 4+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering, with hands-on experience owning production systems

  • Experience working with Go

  • You have built or maintained CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, or developer-facing tooling

  • You have been on-call and improved it - not just responded to pages, but fixed root causes and leveled up the process

  • Experience working with an IaC tool - OpenTofu/Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation

  • You have excellent communication skills

  • Eager to learn new tools and technologies

  • Strong product mindset and big-picture thinking

  • Focused on solving problems, not just completing tasks

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Claude Code, Datadog

  • PostgreSQL/Aurora optimization experience

How we work

  • We move fast. Continuous deployments at least 2 times a day, we make heavy use of feature flags (LaunchDarkly)

  • Ownership over our work and driving key product decisions

  • Working closely as a team, transparent communication, caring about our system, ourselves, and customers

  • Everything is an iteration and everything is an experiment

  • Cultivate space for small and big innovation from all-engineering hackathons to smaller, ad-hoc experiments

  • We use the best dev tools that we can get our hands on

Why Spacelift?

  • Innovative Culture: Join a team shaping cloud infrastructure management’s future

  • Growth Opportunities: Be a key player in driving Spacelift’s business and AWS partnership to new heights

  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible work environment, with remote-first options and competitive compensation packages

  • Collaborative Team: Work with passionate, talented people committed to driving success for our customers and partners

  • Competitive salary and equity package: B2B contract

Hiring Process

  • 30' HR intro call

  • 30' Team Leader Interview

  • Take-home exercise

  • 90' Technical interview with live coding

  • 45' Final Leadership call with our Director of Engineering

Our values

  • We build for CUSTOMERS
