We are looking for an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to join our Strategic & Military Space Division in developing and testing visible and infrared imaging sensor systems for space flight programs. As an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer, you will:
- Data & Analysis: Use Python and/or MATLAB to perform data analysis and interpret physical measurements from sensor systems
- Sensor Development: Assist in the design and testing of visible and infrared imaging sensors
- Problem Solving: Apply strong analytical skills to troubleshoot technical challenges and support radiometric/photometric modeling
- Team Collaboration: Work within an interdisciplinary environment (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless payload integration
- Communication: Participate in technical reviews and interchange meetings, providing clear verbal and written updates on project progress
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years of relevant experience and a master’s degree, or 0+ years of relevant experience and a PhD degree in a related technical field (e.g., electro-optical systems, optical science, aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or physics)
- Technical Aptitude: A strong understanding of physical measurements and optical principles
- Software Proficiency: Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, or equivalent for technical applications
- Experience: Previous exposure to electro-optical sensor design and/or data analysis
- Soft Skills: Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a collaborative team
- Logistics: Willingness to travel as needed
- Security: Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
- Detector Knowledge: Familiarity with visible and infrared detectors (CCD, CMOS, InSb, HgCdTe, Microbolometers (Thermal Detectors), etc.)
- Modeling: Experience in performing radiometric or photometric modeling in visible and infrared spectrums
- Spaceflight Focus: Experience with spaceflight instrument development, testing, or understanding of the space environment
- Cross-Disciplinary Interest: Familiarity with how electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines interact within a complex system
- $98,000 - $157,000
- Salary commensurate on education and relevant experience
