Facility and Project Management Placement Intern 2025

Location: Weybridge or Basingstoke

Are you an undergraduate student studying Project Management, Construction Management, Civil engineering, Architecture, Environment or Geography? If so, we have a 12-month placement available starting in July 2025. Don't miss out on this opportunity!

We are seeking a proactive self-learner with a passion for maximising value and minimising risk of spend with suppliers and facilities who wants to become a Project and Facility Executive intern at Sony, supporting the Property and Facilities Management and Project Management teams based out of our Weybridge & Basingstoke offices.

Your role will be involved in the delivery of many exciting property projects across our European estate. We will be preparing to start works on a large-scale category B fit-out, of a brand-new building in Basingstoke. During your time with us, we will complete the construction phase and decant from our existing facility. Working alongside a highly motivated team of external consultants, developers, and contractors, you will gain valuable experience in end-to-end project management, customer engagement, and contract management. In addition to construction projects, you will be involved with our in-house facilities Management team and experience the day-to-day running of our estate and the associated projects.

This 12-month paid placement will give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge and gain valuable transferable skills in the dynamic fast-paced environment of a multinational organisation. This is an environment where you can truly develop an in-depth understanding and achieve meaningful personal development.

Throughout the placement, you will:

  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of property projects across Europe, including construction, refurbishment, and office fit-out projects.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Help to monitor project progress, budget control, and risk management.
  • Work closely with architects, contractors, and other external partners to ensure project goals are met.
  • Assist with project reporting, data analysis, and project documentation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations and project updates for senior management.
  • Join site visits and take part in meetings with different project collaborators.

You will bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international working environment.
  • Understanding of project management, practical delivery of change, construction and energy management.
  • Ability to articulate yourself well, both in written and verbal form.
  • Strong numerical and logical skills with an ability to make and justify data-driven decisions.
  • A courageous and innovative approach to work with a self-learner attitude.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken), additional European languages are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint).

Our recruitment process:

The job posting will be open until 10th November. Afterwards, the selected candidates will be asked to complete an automated video interview. In December, the best-performing candidates will be invited to an interview. We are aiming to finalise our recruitment process by the end of December.

Throughout the recruitment process until your start date, there will be regular catch-up calls with the program coordinators and current interns to answer any questions and provide guidance and further information on your Sony journey. This will also allow you to connect with the other future interns who will form the 2025 Sony cohort and start building your network. If you will need to relocate, this is also a great opportunity to find others in the same situation.

Based at the Weybridge office, you will enjoy a vibrant and friendly working environment. We have an onsite canteen with a wide range of options available, and a barista style coffee shop. There is a well-provisioned onsite gym run by our own Sony Wellbeing Coordinator, with classes on set days in the mornings, at lunch and after work hours. We have a staff car park which includes electric charging points, an undercover and secure bike rack , or if you will use public transport we have a shuttle bus service that regularly runs between train station and the office at peak times.
