Sonatus is seeking a highly motivated Senior IT Systems Engineer to join and help with the growing needs of our Sunnyvale office. This position will oversee and support the day-to-day operation of servers and networks, ensuring reliable performance and data integrity in local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs). Develop and maintain intranets, manage user accounts, define and implement Disaster Recovery procedures. Ideal candidates should have in-depth data center server, networking and cloud architecture and application experience. Individuals should be a meticulous organizer, excellent communicator with a positive, can-do attitude and be able to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment. Possess an aptitude to troubleshoot various systems and network problems. A team player, yet able to work independently and prioritize accordingly.

Location-wise, candidates should already reside within the SF/Bay Area, CA region as we promote a hybrid work model with 2-3-days in office requirement (for synergy, collaboration, engagement, and camaraderie with peers and management).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and manage engineering servers and workstations.
  • Manage IAM systems including LDAP and Single Sign on
  • Monitor system and network performance to ensure reliability.
  • Analyze performance metrics and logs to identify bottlenecks, optimize resource usage, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and apply necessary security patches and updates.
  • Regularly assess existing processes and tools, identifying areas for improvement and optimization
  • Perform backup and recovery operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related IT specialization with 5-8 years of working experience in providing IT support in a production environment.
  • Hands on production experience with Ubuntu Linux, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Server and MacOS
  • Ability to automate operational tasks with tools like Ansible.
  • Experience with scripting in Bash, Python or any other language.
  • Experience with virtualization such as VMware ESXi, any public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure), Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Must have hands-on experience in supporting and managing Google Workspace and Office 365
  • Knowledge of Identity Management (IAM/PAM) concepts.
  • Hands on experience with common networking concepts such as IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, PXE, TFTP, SSH, RDP, VNC and LDAP
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively, handle assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Team player, resourceful, able to work under pressure.
  • Must be willing to work onsite and reside within driving distance to our Sunnyvale office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; and presentation skills.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • IT certifications (Cisco networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP, Cloud certifications from AWS, Azure or GCP, Security+, ITIL v3.)
  • Experience with MDM solutions such as JumpCloud
  • IT governance such as ISO27001 and GDPR 
  • Knowledges of Linux system internals to optimize system configuration for both performance and security.
