Position Summary:

As the Sr. Controls Applications Engineer you will play a key role in the design, deployment, and optimization of advanced energy solutions for our commercial and industrial clients. You will work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs, design tailored solutions and ensure the successful integration of our energy asset technologies, such as solar PV systems, battery storage, building assets and EV charger management systems.

This role involves supporting the project from proposal to deployment stages, producing technical design documentation, overseeing solution implementation, and providing ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Location: Remote US - Central or East Coast region, preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead advanced technical deployments, integrations, and operations of SolarEdge C&I Software and Controls solutions across North America. Lead the integration of energy assets, including solar PV systems, battery storage, and other renewable energy technologies, ensuring compatibility and seamless performance with existing infrastructure.
• Work with clients and the sales teams to produce a solution utilizing our product that addresses client’s requirements
• Create technical design documentation for applications, such as technical drawings of hardware deployments, integration diagrams, and system schematics.
• Identify and recommend third-party solutions that complement and enhance the functionality of our standard products and services.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with a remote-first approach, site visits may be required, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient system performance for solar installations and other energy assets.
• Manage the Solutions aspect of large and complex projects, working with the projects and sales teams to ensure that customer requirements, project milestones, and deadlines are met. Support pre-deployment tasks such as hardware and product ordering with the existing teams.
• Work closely with product management team for specification and improvements in existing products.

• BS in Engineering or equivalent required.
• Excellent industry knowledge of competition, market trends in the renewable energy industry with focus on monitoring and controls.
• Knowledge of NEC and PV system regulatory codes for PV installations, including but not limited to the National Electrical Code, NEC 690, PV Power System installation, UL1741, IEE1547, for the interconnection of distributed resources with power systems, FERC661, etc.
• Strong communication and presentation skills including listening and handling objections and complex technical inquiries in customer meetings.
• 3+ years of experience in a similar sector such as Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management, Solar, Energy Generation, or IoT technology.
• Proven experience with energy asset integration, including solar PV systems, battery storage, and other renewable energy technologies.
• Experience configuring, commissioning and troubleshooting energy monitoring and control systems to optimize energy production, storage management, and energy distribution.
• Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers and stakeholders, providing clear technical guidance and training.
• Experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation, such as installation guides, troubleshooting manuals, and FAQs.
• Familiarity with protocols such as MODBUS (RTU/TCP) BACnet, MQTT, CANBUS, and DNP3, and basic functional knowledge of networking concepts and applications
• Ability to read and interpret schematics with a good understanding of high voltage and measurement equipment.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools like Python, Shell scripting, or PowerShell.
• Experience with API integrations and understanding RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of edge computing concepts and IoT devices.
• Proficiency in using tools for remote monitoring and management of devices or networks
