• About the role:
   

  We are looking for an Engineering Manager based in Chennai or Remote - India. This is a new role within the growing Engineering function, where you will be responsible for leading a team of talented professionals, assisting them to deliver complex technical solutions across a range of teams. The successful candidate will be comfortable directing, planning and coordinating the team, as well as developing overall concepts for new and existing products and processes. This role is integral to the successful growth of the team as well as wider company performance.  

  Responsibilities:

  • Play the role of a servant leader in helping the team to excel in the areas of ownership and help to continuously raise the bar on performance.

  • Perform your responsibilities through delegation, empowerment and influence aimed at delivering long term outcomes for the team and business.

  • Build, manage and grow one or more engineering team(s), foster Agile practices, shape and advocate for the best engineering practices including CI/CD, high-bar for data qualities, rigorous code reviews, etc. 

  • Cultivate a hands-on technical approach to management, leveraging your software engineering and architecting experience to assist product needs and mentor the team. 

  • Work with our Product, DevOps, and Data Science functions on articulating roadmaps & ensure a high quality and timely implementation to support our mission and help eliminate identity fraud

  Qualifications:

  • You are comfortable working cross-functionally to ensure technical alignment.

  • You are skilled in building highly performing teams. You have experience in managing one or more Agile engineering team(s).

  • You are experienced in hiring the best talents in the market, and scale up the team to support Socure's growth.

  • You like to think at scale and design, develop and operate production services,  data stores, and pipelines that meet goals of low latency, high availability, resiliency, security and quality.

  • You develop an empathy for people and how they use your work and constantly think about improving your work to improve your customer productivity. 

  • You have experience in architecting and building distributed applications in modern cloud environments (AWS, GCP ,etc). You have a strong understanding of cloud-native architectures. 

  • You have hands-on experience with tools/platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker, Relational Databases, NoSQL, etc.

  • You are familiar in one or more of the programming languages such as Java, 

  • Scala, or C++, and are comfortable in conducting code reviews. 

  • Experience in data governance and compliance (GDPR, CCPA or PII) is a big plus.

  • Experience in NoSQL solutions such as Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB or Elasticsearch is a big plus.

  • You are experienced in coaching, and constantly providing candid feedback to team members to attain high productivity and support their professional growth.  

  • 7+ years of related experience including, 3+ years of experience in managing a software engineering team of 5+ engineers. 

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
