Staff Software Engineer - Workspaces

Department: Engineering

Location: US-WA-Bellevue

Compensation: $236K – $339.2K

Employment Type: FullTime

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Come join us in this super high impact role as we build the future of Snowflake!

Snowsight is the perfect place for data professionals to do their best work, and in this role you'll be making it even better. You'll join a wildly talented, multi-disciplinary team to not only reimagine existing Snowsight experiences, but also to extend it to exciting new surfaces and unlock high value business opportunities. Acting as a startup within Snowflake, together we'll iterate quickly, ship daily, and experiment continuously.
This is a phenomenal opportunity to revolutionize how people across the world turn data into knowledge, and knowledge into opportunities. As a senior technical leader on this team, you'll have exceptional impact, both shaping and shipping amazing experiences — and helping the engineers around you do the very best work of their careers.

YOU WILL:

  • Act as a technical leader and deep domain expert across the stack, owning an area of the product end-to-end with an eye toward service health, quality, and customer experience.

  • Lead large, cross-team projects from architecture through delivery — identifying opportunities, making the right trade-offs in the context of overall company goals, and driving them to completion.

  • Leverage agentic AI to accelerate your work (and the team's) across the tech stack, including (but not limited to) Go, React, and Java — and set the bar for how the team builds with AI.

  • Partner deeply across disciplines, including design and product management, to find the sweet spot that helps us build the right thing, the right way, at the right cost.

  • Anticipate customer needs and future demands, translate them into our plans, and identify systemic issues that affect reliability and customer experience — working across teams to deliver enduring solutions.

  • Develop expertise in others: mentor engineers, raise the bar through code and design reviews, and act as a gatekeeper of standards, consistency, quality, and design while being perceived as a value-adder, not a blocker.

  • Strongly contribute to our product vision and drive multi-quarter team planning.

  • Build fast products that scale to wild success.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, including significant full stack software development leveraging responsive design. Bonus points if you've shipped mobile experiences leveraging AI.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading large or very complex projects that span multiple teams, with a clear pattern of driving them to successful outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of modern web application architecture, good API design patterns, security, performance, and scale — and the ability to make principled trade-offs across them.

  • Expertise in at least one significant area of a complex product, with broad enough technical range to contribute meaningfully outside your primary area when needed.

  • Strong, demonstrated technical leadership: comfort with ambiguity, using data and analysis to drive decisions and build consensus, and proactively identifying and solving problems with limited oversight.

  • A track record of developing expertise in others — mentoring senior and junior engineers, leveling up teams, and being the kind of teammate people seek out for hard problems.

  • Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design.

  • Knowledge of data development tools, data infrastructure, or ML is a plus.

  • You go to work everyday striving to be the very best you can be. You're undaunted by ambiguity and are motivated to drive impact on the most important problems — not just the most technically exciting ones.

Every Snowflake employee is expected to follow the company’s confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data. Snowflake employees must abide by the company’s data security plan as an essential part of their duties. It is every employee's duty to keep customer information secure and confidential.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
