Senior Software Engineer in Test

Our Quality Engineering team is actively seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test to join our fast growing organization. In this role you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the testing organization. You will be driving the development of end-to-end integration tests, automation frameworks, and tools to have robust automated testing pipelines for the Snowflake Data Cloud.

This is a hands-on role in which you will design and code comprehensive testing frameworks while taking on a technical leadership role, improving productivity of our development/QE teams and bringing standardization to our processes and practices. You will be able to closely work with the Native Applications Engineering Team located in Toronto. 

As Snowflake strives to become the global data platform for customers, it is clear that we need an integrated platform that supports data application development. With the Native Application Framework, application providers can use familiar Snowflake core functionalities to build their applications, then distribute and monetize them in Snowflake Marketplace. Application consumers can discover these applications through the Snowflake Marketplace and deploy them directly inside their Snowflake account to satisfy their data needs.

AS A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER IN TEST AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:

• Drive quality across all disciplines, providing guidance, feedback, and suggestions to improve quality practices across engineering organization
• Contribute to technical leadership and strategic direction to continuously improve the Quality Engineering Organization
• Partner with customer facing groups such as PMs, UX, SEs to better understand how customers interface and use our product to drive quality early and often in SDLC
• Author and enhance Test plans based on feature requirements and specifications, as well as technical discussions and deep dives with engineers
• Build, enhance and maintain automation frameworks utilized by team to automate critical user scenarios for regression testing
• Prioritize and execute test cases in a snowflake environment that’s representative of customers’ schema and workloads
• Partner with Support and Engineering to investigate, troubleshoot and identify/implement fixes for customer facing issues

OUR IDEAL SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER IN TEST WILL HAVE:

• 8+ years of relevant experience in Quality Engineering, specifically testing, frameworks and automation as a Technical Lead.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• High proficiency coding in Python, Java and/or C++ preferred.
• Strong CS fundamentals including OO concepts, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
• Strong database understanding  including SQL, query optimizers,  performance, multi-threading,  and schema design
• Experience with cloud technology including GCP, AWS and/or Azure
• Proven experience developing comprehensive and effective Test and Performance tools, as well as  frameworks.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of standard quality best practices, techniques and methodologies to drive continuous quality improvements
• Experience delivering quality software in a large distributed system with emphasis on functional and performance automation, workloads and testing
• Experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment systems like Jenkins
• Previous experience with distributed storage systems, data/metadata file formats (Parquet, Orc, Avro, Iceberg), and cloud storage platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.
