Principal Engineer Role within SnowCommand

As a Principal Software Engineer in SnowCommand, you'll be a visionary leader connecting dots across Snowflake's ecosystem. You'll identify synergies, streamline processes, and propose innovative solutions.  Implementation of designed solutions is a crucial part of that role, demanding a hands-on approach where you actively engage in coding tasks to set a high standard of proficiency and lead by example. Inspiring the team, you'll champion initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Your visionary leadership will shape Snowflake's operational excellence and innovation within SnowCommand. Beyond its scope, you'll have opportunities to contribute to vertical implementation and boost effectiveness. We're seeking someone eager to drive growth, operational efficiency, and the future of cloud data management at Snowflake.

AS A PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER IN SnowCommand, YOU WILL :

  • Design and build SnowCommand as the production management platform that allows Snowflake to operate globally.
  • Drive tactical and strategic plans and initiatives for the whole area
  • Participate in decision-making processes on technical or business issues
  • Collaborate with engineers across teams to help deliver cross-functional initiatives
  • Collaborate with Global Platform principals and Snowflake architects to drive initiatives as a whole Global Platform area
  • Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet security, stability, and reliability for the core production access system

OUR IDEAL PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL HAVE:

  • 18+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems in production.
  • Expertise and proven record of building complex data replication systems.
  • Passionate about improving the overall security and effectiveness of internal operations 
  • Deep multi-faceted appreciation for building end-to-end customer-facing products.
  • Strong Fulstack fundamentals, including proficiency with data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems (fluency in JS  techstack and Java efficiency preferred).
  • Experience working with cross-teams and product managers.
  • Proficiency in modern web applications design architecture oriented on the security of managed system
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, & Docker
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors.
