Job Description

Life. Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.

Data Scientist

Are you passionate about using data science to solve complex business challenges and influence real world decisions? We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Supply Chain Planning Data Science Pod, where you will help shape the future of Autonomous Planning. In this role, you will develop advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that improve demand, supply and inventory planning, turning data into better decisions and measurable business value. Based in Wrocław, you will work with global stakeholders and cross functional teams to build scalable solutions that improve forecasting accuracy, optimise inventory and enhance planning efficiency.

What will you be doing?

As a Data Scientist, you will play an important role in delivering AI powered planning capabilities that directly support supply chain decision making. You will translate business challenges into modelling solutions, working closely with stakeholders to understand the operational context and desired outcomes.
Your work will include developing and validating machine learning and optimisation models, supporting demand forecasting, inventory optimisation, planning parameter optimisation, replenishment optimisation and scenario modelling. Beyond model development, you will help ensure solutions are embedded into planning processes, enabling teams to take action from model outputs and realise measurable business benefits.
You will collaborate with Data Analysts and Analytics Engineers to explore data, design experiments, evaluate results and transition successful prototypes into production ready solutions. Through continuous monitoring and refinement, you will help maximise the value and adoption of data science across the planning organisation.

What will you need to be successful?

Success in this role comes from combining strong technical expertise with a clear focus on business impact. You will be someone who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring that analytical outputs drive meaningful decisions.
Key requirements include:
• Experience in data science or applied analytics with a strong foundation in machine learning and statistical modelling
• Proficiency in Python and experience working across the full model lifecycle, from development through deployment and monitoring
• Ability to translate business problems into scalable analytical solutions that deliver measurable value
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical audiences
The anticipated base compensation range for this position is 111,500 PLN - 167,250 PLN gross annually.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on objective, job related factors including (but not limited to) relevant skills, qualifications, and experience, scope and responsibilities of the role, geographic location, and internal equity considerations. Compensation decisions are made using consistent and gender neutral criteria, in line with applicable pay transparency laws.
