As a member of the Slack Security Customer Protection team, you are the first line of detection of bad actors using Slack in unwanted and unexpected ways. As Slack’s data, customers, and features grow, protecting customers’ data from unwanted behaviors becomes an ever more important and challenging problem. The Security Customer Protection team develops and uses tooling to tease out high-quality signal from all the noise, to detect unwanted behaviors, such as abuse of users, workspaces, or tokens. Your work directly impacts the way millions of people, teams and businesses get things done.

What you will be doing

• Manage a team of highly experienced software security engineers whose mission is the proactive discovery and prevention of threat actors and unwanted activity in Slack

• Work closely with Privacy, Policy, and Product teams to understand customers’ security needs and current priorities 

• Establish strong partnerships and champion quality throughout a cross-functional organization to support the best possible security and engineering outcomes

• Understand the underpinnings of how Slack works, and where bad actors could take advantage, to develop improved detective tools

• Expose measurable data to internal and external partners to improve Slack’s ability to detect future threats

• Promote active, continuous learning and improvement within your team. Cultivate team members’ growth through feedback, coaching, and career development

• Manage multiple concurrent projects while effectively solving problems that cross product boundaries

• Work closely with other Slack Security teams to identify, track and remediate risk

• Support developer productivity, through training, driving solutions and tooling
   

What you should have

• 5-7 years work experience managing in a security or privacy engineering environment, with a focus on product and customer-facing environments

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• Strong expertise in software engineering best practices

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail

• Ability to communicate with empathy when delivering constructive feedback to engineers

• Experience collecting and analyzing feedback from engineers

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $160,700 to $269,500.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
