Telephony Solutions (VOIP) Engineer

- Own and manage telephony system integrations for all clients.
- Design and implement cloud telephony solutions.
- Collaborate directly with clients to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Troubleshoot and optimize VoIP/SIP implementations.
- Provide technical support and consultation to clients.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless integration delivery.
- Lead the technical setup of SIP trunks with Indian Tier-1 carriers (e.g., Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) and Jio Business).
- Carrier & Network Management:
- Manage IP-Authentication, Header manipulation, and NAT traversal to ensure calls reach the AI media server.
- Line Provisioning: Handle DID (Direct Inward Dialing) allocation and porting of existing numbers from legacy PRI lines to modern SIP infrastructure.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for carrier support teams (Tata/Jio) and cloud providers (Twilio/TCN) to resolve circuit outages or routing failures. [Must have high ownership]
- AI Integration & Voice Quality:
- Configure gateways and Session Border Controllers (SBCs) to route PSTN audio into the AI pipeline (STT/TTS engines).
- Set up and debug webhooks (e.g., TwiML or TCN APIs) that tell the AI how to handle "Busy," "No Answer," or "Machine Detected" statuses.
- Optimize voice quality using appropriate codecs (G.711, G.729, Opus) to ensure the AI "hears" the customer clearly even on low-bandwidth mobile networks.
- Advanced Debugging:
- Deep dive into SIP, RTP, and RTCP protocols to troubleshoot "One-way audio" or "Dead air" issues.
- Implement tools like Wireshark or sngrep to capture SIP traces and analyze call failures. [Must have high ownership]
- 3–5 years in VoIP/Telephony Engineering, specifically with SIP Trunking.
- Strong expertise in Cloud Telephony platforms.
- Proficient in VoIP protocols and technologies.
- Hands-on experience with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol).
- Strong hands-on SIP, RTP debugging capabilities with industry-standard tools (sngrep, tcpdump, wireshark, etc.).
- Working knowledge of RTPEngine for media handling.
- Client-facing experience with excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with SBCs such as Kamailio, OpenSIPS, or Sonus/Ribbon.
- Knowledge of protocols like SIP, WebRTC, RTP, and TLS (for secure SIP).
- Knowledge of telecom protocols (SIP/SDP, RTP, SIPS, SRTP).
- Familiarity with telecom infrastructure and carriers.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Project management capabilities.
- Python / Bash skills to extract information from PCAPs.
- Familiarity with Docker & Kubernetes.
