Sr. Software Developer - DevOps

Sr. Software Developer-DevOps  “SkillsWaver” Profile:

In this role you will be responsible for optimizing and maintaining the systems that support the SkillsWave product development lifecycle. You will provide technical expertise to engineering teams to streamline processes, implement automation solutions, and maximize the effectiveness of our software development and software testing efforts. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

How will I make an impact:

Technical Operations Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and stability for the department’s operations team
• Help with elevated technical support requests, monitor alarms channels, and deploy new releases of the company’s software
• Partner with developers, QA, and product teams to align infrastructure needs with business goals.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

AWS Infrastructure Management:

• Design, implement, and maintain AWS-based serverless solutions using services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Develop, deploy, and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Optimize performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of cloud-based resources.
• Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing using tools like AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Ensure deployments are seamless, fast, and reliable by promoting best practices in software release processes.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:

• Establish and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools like CloudWatch, ELK, or Grafana.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, proposing optimizations, and implementing automated solutions.
• Apply ITIL and/or SRE principles to maintain system reliability, manage incidents, and minimize downtime.

Integration & System Connectivity:

• Design and manage integrations between systems across the enterprise, using RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems such as SNS/SQS, EventBridge, Kafka, or industry leading ESB and integration hubs.
• Ensure data flows securely and reliably between services and third-party applications, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or errors in real-time.

Security & Compliance:

• Implement and maintain security best practices across AWS environments, ensuring compliance with standards like ISO, SOC2, or GDPR.
• Manage IAM roles, policies, and encryption to ensure a secure DevOps environment

What you need to be successful:

• 6+ years relevant experience in software development (preferably in a technology-focused company) 
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or similar technical discipline or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong understanding of Computer Science topics, including data structures, algorithms, databases, and distributed systems 
• Experience with languages and technologies we use, including JavaScript, NodeJS, AWS Lambda, AWS DynamoDB, and AWS OpenSearch

The salary for this position is in the range of $100,000 to $130,000 and is based on the minimum level of work experience and qualifications as listed above. This salaried position requires a minimum of 40 hours of work per week.  More senior candidates may apply but note that the salary for the position has been set at the range listed.
