Role: Senior Electronics Test Engineer (manufacturing)
Location: This will be based on site in our Congleton office.
The Electronics Test Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and support of manufacturing-based PCBA testing technologies, in-particular, Variable Speed Drive industrial PCBA testing processes, within our electronics manufacturing facility; producing over 600,000 industrial power/control based products per year.
A fast-paced, dynamic, and technology driven environment, where you must balance business performance management and improvement, with groundbreaking digitisation and automation innovation planning and adoption.
The key element of this role is to deliver World Class test solutions for new and existing drives and options products underpinning our Zero-Defect quality culture.
You’ll make an impact by
- Working both independently, and as part of highly collaborative teams, deliver innovative manufacturing test process technologies through the design, deployment, and support of fixtured and flying probe in-circuit test systems.
- Ensuring extraordinary process performance through the proactive management of reliable, repeatable, and efficient production testing processes/equipment. This must include considerations such as proficient problem-solving techniques, machine data analysis, visualisation, and robust maintenance procedures.
- Improving business performance, through the ownership of core manufacturing In-circuit testing processes with the emphasis on Process Capability, Quality, Efficiency, and Safety.
- Challenging the status quo regarding manufacturing methodologies and technologies especially regarding scouting, planning, and sustainable deployment of innovative digitalisation and automation technologies.
- Working within the Manufacturing Engineering department, you will develop and support manual and automated in-circuit test solutions for our range of electronics products.
- Support the introduction of new product portfolios and aim for continuous improvement of existing test solutions.
- Act a technical leader and mentor to other team members, peer engineering teams, 1st line support maintenance/technician teams, and other manufacturing personnel.
- Be part of a highly collaborative global factory networking group, ensuring that the best practise sharing, standardisation and solution scale-up are maximised.
- Use statical methods (e.g Six Sigma, statical process control) to review test system stability performance. Make improvements to the in-circuit test solutions already deployed into production.
You’re excited to build on your existing expertise, including
- Hold a degree, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical/electronic engineering. A BTEC HNC, HND, or substantial experience may also be considered.
- Experience developing electronic In-circuit test equipment within a manufacturing environment.
- Self-motivated application of problem solving and critical thinking techniques to ensure that production test processes are continually operating at world class levels of efficiency and utilisation.
- Good communicator who can converse at a technical level and articulate engineering topics in non-specialist or management forums.
- The ability to develop as a core technology expert within the role, with the expectation to develop close networks within our global factory network communities
- A fundamental understanding or experience of a high-level programming language (E.G. C, C#, C++, Delphi)
- Good understanding of PUWER requirements and risk assessment process.
Desirable:
- Good understating of power electronic circuit design is desirable
- Experience with Boundary scan and frame scan is desirable.
- Experience defining and generating functional in-circuit tests is desirable.
- Appreciation for device programming techniques both in-line and offline (experience desirable).
- Experience diagnosing, fault finding, and repair of electronics is desirable.
- Experience specifying and working with vendors to procure PCB In-circuit test fixtures.
- Experience commissioning, debugging and releasing PCB in-circuit test fixture solutions for serial production use.
- Experience developing solutions with Fixtured PCB in-circuit test platform (E.g Spectrum Teradyne, Keysight)
- Experience developing solutions with Flying probe PCB in-circuit test platforms (E.g Takaya, Spea)
- Knowledge of serial and parallel communication protocols.
