Join our Smart Infrastructure Division as Principal Design Engineer!
Siemens Digital Grid have secured a position on the National Grid 5 Year Light Current Framework, resiliently providing robust systems with the latest Siemens technology on new National Grid substations and extending the existing infrastructure. A safer and lower carbon project delivery footprint will be adopted.
Location: This role allows you to be based anywhere in the UK, you could work remotely with occasional travel to meet up with your team in the Hebburn office. However, in the initial stage of joining the team, you would be required to be present at the Hebburn office for 2/3 days per week whilst training.

How you will make an impact:
You will successfully deliver; Transmission protection and control systems with our end-customers from various domains & disciplines. You will provide support to Protection engineering team to mentor / coach other members of the team to support their growth. Responsible for assessing delivery process and optimising to create efficient engineering process to allow deliver of projects on target and within scope. Provide innovative solutions as technical lead for protection and control on UK Transmission and Distribution network.
•Ensure that Siemens solutions are compliant with the latest policies and standards.
•Provide a high level of customer service to clients and maintain the highest standards of quality.
•Sound problem solving skills, fault finding skills and analytical thinking.
•Provide technical input for Sales, Proposals and Operations departments
What skills and experience will you bring to the role:
•Application of protection systems on National Grid transmission network.
•Experience of National Grid delivery and specifications/standards are essential.
•NG CDAE
•TP141 Settings beneficial but not essential.
•Good understanding of design process covering Detailed design (Circuit diagrams / Interface diagrams / cubicle design / settings / testing FAT).
•Experience with industry-standard software tools for design, simulation and test, beneficial to have SIPROTEC / DIGSI knowledge.
•Experience dealing with NG as direct customer and/or EPC customers providing protection solutions for brown field extensions or green field build.
•Good communication skills to allow efficient co-ordination between the team / function groups and the customer.
•A minimum qualification of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering plus extensive experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Industry.
