Join our IT Software team as a IT Software Developer and be at the forefront of revolutionizing crane operations at harbor container terminals.

Our developed software provides a comprehensive overview and control of complex systems, managing container handling equipment. In this starter role, you will contribute to advanced software solutions, focusing on the automation, remote control, and diagnostics of harbor cranes and peripheral equipment.

You will start in a small dedicated team of engineers and collaborate closely with colleagues of the Cranes department in the Netherlands and Germany and perform activities in all stages of software development, being front-end development, back-end development, database integrations, network and hosting management, user interface, user experience, and back-end server management.

You will be able to directly address the current and future challenges presented by large and high-tech cranes in an interconnected environment. Depending on your preferences, you can be involved with implementing your work in projects, as well as travel internationally on occasion.

Responsibilities include:
  • Actively participate in the development of solutions for harbor cranes.
  • Designs and engineers the solution down to detail to satisfy the specified requirements of the customer.
  • Develops business software applications, system software IT solutions and/or IT infrastructure services on the basis of functional specifications (customization or reuse/modification of system software and/or solutions as well as their development from scratch).
  • Consults (internal) customers in creating functional specifications.
  • Evaluates vendor solutions and/or drafts program layouts.
  • Performs bug verification and testing.
  • Provides technical support for business applications (standard software and custom development).
  • Designs and realizes interfaces between business applications.
  • Ensures the documentation of changes as well as plans and releases upgrades.
  • Supporting commissioning and acceptance tests.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
  • Experience with an object-oriented programming language preferably C# / .NET (or similar like Java, C++).
  • Experience with 3D simulation (Unity or similar)
  • Experience with working with software which is connected to hardware and the quirks that this involves.
  • Experience with setting up software in a distributed environment and networks.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Git and/or Azure DevOps and Unit Testing
  • Business fluent in English, ideally also Dutch. German is also preferable.
  • Experience with a SCADA system (WinCC / WinCC OA) is a big plus.
  • Preference for knowledge of container cranes and/or container terminals, SIMATIC S7 programming languages or experience in complex (automation) projects.
