Job Description

Shopify Professional Services engages with strategic customers and partners to consult, design, and deliver innovative and unique commerce experiences which expand the boundaries of what is possible with Shopify. We work closely with our largest and most strategic brands, and partner ecosystem, to deliver creative solutions together, and also engage with large system integrators to ensure that Shopify remains the commerce platform of choice for the enterprise.  

Our Solutions Architect team works across the organization to design and deliver innovative solutions that enable our largest brands and partners to succeed.  You will be in charge of owning the entire team’s development, growth and performance and ensuring we have strong foundations as we scale into the future. As an experienced people leader, you will be accountable for raising the performance and quality bar, ensuring we have strong foundations as we grow and develop our craft.  You yourself are technically inclined, setting an example for the team while supporting each team member’s growth and career Shopify. 

The Senior Lead, Solutions Architecture will be a merchant-facing evangelist for the work our Professional Services team does, and are excited to pursue and shape opportunities alongside our New Business teams, and speak competently about our capabilities and proposed technical solutions. Some exciting opportunities in the role include:

• Being a thought leader on the Solution Architect craft, staying abreast of industry trends and model excellence in your craft.

• Hire, develop, coach and mentor team members to enable them to excel at their jobs and grow in their career at Shopify.

• Demonstrate strong technical proficiency while engaging with clients to identify their needs, articulate complex solutions and drive optimized business outcomes.

• Help your team create proposals, quotes and contracts for projects that will influence Shopify’s product roadmap.

• Engage with our most complex opportunities along with product, engineering, subject matter experts and delivery teams to gather requirements and translate into solutions.

• Lead all aspects of solution architecture and design from concept ideation through development and implementation, ensuring that all moving pieces fit well together and are accepted by relevant stakeholders

• Collaborate with internal teams to identify technology solution alternatives and the optimal solution from desirability, feasibility and viability criteria.

• Optimize your team's capacity and resourcing and revenue attribution applied to a portfolio of projects. 

• Evaluate existing and emerging platform needs, processes and architectures; identify areas of opportunity and outline solutions.

Qualifications

• Passionate about leadership with proven experience leading and motivating teams 

• Experiencing managing the delivery of paid engagements (from MOU to SOW)

• Experience in pre-sales with an understanding of enterprise procurement pathways for technology vendors.

• Great interpersonal skills, with exceptional ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of personalities

• Ability to comfortably liaise with executive stakeholders both internally and externally, navigating many competing priorities and opinions.

• Proven ability to analyze complex situations and develop action plans to lead a cross functional team to the key objectives. 

• Demonstrate a high-degree of customer-centric thinking, behaviour and track record and experience working cross-functionally multiple stakeholders

• Adept at navigating large complex organizations, matrixed decision-making, working with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally, with comfort doing so in a Digital-by-Design environment

• Ability to create and hold vision and turn it into results. 

• Willingness to accept challenges and tackle tough issues head-on

• Proven ability to analyze complex situations and develop action plans to lead a cross functional team to the key objectives. 

• Strong  and extensive experience with Shopify or other ecommerce platforms; knowledge of latest technologies and trends (storefronts, omni-channel, supply chain, B2B, POS,  etc.).

• Solid understanding of Cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals.

• Strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) for enterprise integrations.
