Job Description:

What’s the role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in energy, customer-facing platforms, and scalable service delivery for large and complex customers.

The Commercial Product Lead, Structured Services will serve as the business product lead for Gateway, GRID, and related customer-facing capabilities that support Shell Energy’s Structured Services strategy. This role will help translate complex post-close customer needs including invoice transparency, settlement support, customer reporting, hedge / invoice visibility, DR and flexibility reporting, and broker/customer access into clear business requirements, prioritized enhancements, and scalable customer-facing solutions.

The role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, customer experience, operations, billing, data, and technology delivery. The successful candidate will be expected to understand business problems, define customer and internal user needs, prioritize value, and work cross-functionally to move capabilities from concept to implementation.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting or leading business products, customer platforms, operational tools, reporting capabilities, or cross-functional process improvements in energy or another complex commercial environment. The role requires a self-motivated, organized, and responsible individual who can operate independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

  • Serve as the business product lead for Gateway, GRID, and related Structured Services capabilities

  • Translate Structured Services strategy, customer needs, and internal process requirements into business requirements and prioritized enhancements

  • Own business intake, triage, prioritization, and value case development for customer-facing platform capabilities

  • Partner with IT, Data, Operations, Billing, Sales, Structuring, and other stakeholders to ensure platform development remains grounded in customer value, commercial priorities, and scalable service execution

  • Support customer and broker enrollment, adoption, training, feedback, and issue triage for Gateway, GRID, and related tools

  • Identify recurring manual work, customer reporting needs, complex billing support, settlement transparency needs, and strategic account reporting use cases that can be converted into repeatable digital capabilities

  • Support development of platform capabilities related to invoice transparency, settlement support, hedge / invoice visibility, DR and flexibility reporting, broker/customer access, and customer-specific reporting

  • Help define and document business processes, user journeys, support procedures, internal controls, enhancement logic, and operating models for customer-facing tools

  • Maintain an enhancement roadmap that balances customer value, internal efficiency, commercial priorities, operational risk, and delivery feasibility

  • Support customer conversations, demos, or escalations where business context, platform functionality, or Structured Services capabilities are needed.

  • Partner with the Customer Engagement Lead and Market Development Analyst to ensure customer-facing services can be supported, reported, and scaled through tools where appropriate

  • Help reduce reliance on individual institutional knowledge by creating durable documentation, repeatable processes, clear ownership paths, and scalable support models

  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset focused on customer experience, scalability, commercial value, and operational discipline

  • Other duties as assigned

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, technology, engineering, data analytics, or related discipline

  • At least 3 years of experience in energy, customer-facing technology, business product ownership, commercial operations, business process ownership, billing, settlement, reporting, or cross-functional delivery in a professional environment

  • Experience working with business stakeholders and technical delivery teams to define requirements, prioritize enhancements, and support implementation of new capabilities

  • Strong understanding of retail energy products, customer billing, market settlement, demand response, wholesale power markets, or customer-facing energy services preferred

  • Experience translating customer needs, business processes, and operational requirements into clear documentation, enhancement requests, product requirements, or roadmaps

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel

  • Experience with data visualization, SQL, reporting tools, CRM systems, customer portals, market systems, or product/project management tools a plus
