Job Description

Team:

ServiceNow Project RaptorDB, based on Postgres, the world's most advanced open‑source database, acts as a foundational data layer that will allow ServiceNow customers to process massive volumes of transactional data on the Now Platform in real time to meet the demands of AI‑powered applications. It adds analytical capabilities to meet advanced reporting and data mining needs. This team is building the core of RaptorDB and even the smallest optimization can have a dramatic impact on our customers and our bottom line.

We are looking for an experienced Sr. SDET who wants to play a key role in building the very core of our ServiceNow database. You will work directly with other engineers on the Data Platform team solving challenging problems and ensure high quality releases, reliable test plans, good test coverage as well as guide your colleagues on writing robust tests. Our work is based on Postgres with significant in-house enhancements and unique features. This is your opportunity to contribute to cutting edge database software used at massive scale.

What you get to do in this role:  

• Collaborate with a team of 15+ dedicated database-internals engineers.
• Be part of building the next-gen database platform using and contributing to the latest open-source technologies
• Drive the overall exploratory and black box testing effort
• Review engineer test plans, advise the team on best practices and test design.
• Create comprehensive test plans; execute and automate them.
• Help improve CI/CD pipeline development, and improve testing infrastructure.
• Partner with core and cross-functional teams to create the next-generation database engine powering ServiceNow

To be successful in this role you have:

• In depth knowledge of computer and general systems architecture (threads, networking, kernel, etc)
• Eagerness to creatively explore and find defects early
• Good knowledge of SQL, knowledge of MariaDB and/or Postgres is a plus
• Solid understanding and experience with agile software development methodologies
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
• Strong preference for an SDET working with database engine internals development efforts.

Nice to have:

• Some Experience with low-level languages such as C/C++
• Experience with SQL, test development in SQL is a plus

Experience with external integrations such as GCP, AWS and Azure

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with quality assurance and/or professional software development in the aforementioned areas.
• Professional software development experience
• Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or TeamCity
• Proven track record in the development and integration of automated tests
