The Cloud Engineering team at Seismic is responsible for infrastructure deployed through infrastructure-as-code and gitops practices across all major clouds. The SRE Team within Cloud Engineering advances the Seismic DevOps Model by solving challenging problems, addressing inefficiencies, and enabling developer effectiveness through the adoption and maturation of DevOps capabilities.  The SRE team works remotely across North America by leveraging collaboration tools and agile methodologies.  We balance day-to-day support for our application development teams with our planned objectives.  Objectives align to a clear vision across themes of Global Scalability, Operational Cost Efficiency, & Infrastructure and Workload Reliability.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced working in a cloud environment in a role of site reliability engineer or software development engineer with infrastructure exposure.
  • High level of competency with at least one cloud platform, ideally multiple, such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or IBM Cloud.
  • Production level use of Terraform, Shell/Bash, and Python (or Go, Java, Ruby–another non-Shell programming language).
  • Have a strong knowledge of Linux, kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Detailed understanding of DevOps Capabilities and their importance in enabling high performing teams.
  • Comfortable asking questions and respectfully voicing your opinion in group settings.
  • Comfortable providing and discussing a recommendation after evaluating multiple solutions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Establish production readiness practices to reduce risk and improve reliability throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Communicate best practices and build out tools and frameworks to increase adoption of best practices.
  • Work closely with application development teams and incorporate their feedback to improve developer experience and reduce toil.
  • Present plans and proposals to Engineering Leadership.
  • Contribute to the creation of SRE roadmaps.
  • Lead projects as we execute objectives shared across our SRE teams.
  • Develop tooling to manage infrastructure and deployments, mostly in Python
  • Provide an elevated level of support to application teams.
  • Provide guidance to less senior engineers.
  • Participate in a 12 hours on, 12 hours off on-call rotation within the Cloud Engineering team (no overnights!)
