Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer with over 10 years of experience in cost estimation and multidisciplinary project engineering services. As a freelancer, you will play a crucial role in preparing and submitting tenders for engineering projects, focusing primarily on the Italian market. Fluency in both Italian and English is essential for this role. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Tender Preparation and Submission: 

  • Analyze tender documents to understand the scope of engineering services required. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (design, procurement, finance) to gather information relevant to engineering services proposals. 
  • Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals, including project schedules and resource plans. 
  • Draft method statements, work plans, and other technical documentation required for tender submissions. 
  • Provide pre-sales support by leveraging the company’s strengths and differentiating from competitors. 
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) and Pre-Qualification questionnaires as part of the tender process. 

Cost Estimation and Risk Management for Engineering Services: 

  • Perform detailed cost estimations related to engineering services, including man-hours and expertise required. 
  • Identify and assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies specific to the provision of engineering services. 
  • Ensure all cost estimates for services are accurate, competitive, and maintain profitability. 

Resource Forecasting: 

  • Calculate and forecast the man-hours and expertise needed for the delivery of engineering services. 
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure efficient resource allocation for the tendered engineering services. 

Client and Stakeholder Interaction: 

  • Liaise with clients to clarify tender requirements specific to engineering services and address any questions. 
  • Participate in pre-tender meetings, site visits, and post-tender negotiations. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. 

Collaboration and Coordination: 

  • Work closely with project management teams to align tender proposals with the project execution strategies for engineering services. 
  • Coordinate with the design team to ensure engineering service offerings meet tender specifications. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that services offered are aligned with client expectations. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, etc.) or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering, including significant experience in tendering for engineering services. 
  • Expertise in cost estimation for engineering services and risk management. 
  • Strong technical background across multiple engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical). 
  • Field engineering experience is a plus. 
  • Fluency in Italian and English is required. 
  • Experience in industries such as oil & gas, steel, cement, or renewable energies is highly valued. 
  • Proficient in project management tools and software. 
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and work under pressure.
