Lead Firmware Engineer

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a lead firmware engineer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of Distribution Control products. You will be involved in all parts of the software design lifecycle in support of SEL’s mission to “Make Electric Power Safer, More Reliable and More Economical”. People throughout the world now rely on our products to help them efficiently and safely receive/deliver power as economically as possible. As a Lead Firmware Engineer, a typical day might include the following:  

Participate in the design, implementation, and test of firmware/software systems.

Understand hardware and software interactions and collaborate with Hardware Engineers.

Participate in the development of designs and test documentation.

Develop knowledge of SEL engineering processes.
 Develop knowledge of SEL products and technology.
 

This job might be for you if: 

You possess one of the following:
-- B.S. Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
-- Embedded systems firmware development
-- Real-time firmware design
-- C and assembly languages
-- Object oriented design
-- Object oriented languages (C++)
-- Other scripting languages (Python)

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
Jenkins (ideal) or other CI/CD system experience

JFrog Artifactory

Conan C++ Package Manager

Wide range of build environment tooling: Python3, Jinja, Groovy, PowerShell scripting

Atlassian Tooling integration with CI/CD environment

Build / Release process familiarity including Semantic Versioning

Pay Range Data

We anticipate filling this position as a Lead Firmware Engineer $95,000 - $125,000 per year. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
