- Collaborate with the design/engineering, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the aircraft development lifecycle.
- Work with commercial and program management teams to manage the certification schedule and ensure timely issuance of documents.
- Lead the development of certification plans and compliance documentation.
- Review and approve engineering documentation for compliance with airworthiness requirements.
- Work with the regulatory authorities on the acceptance of mean & methods of compliance and the compliance documents.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging regulatory/rulemaking activities related to VTOL and AAM technologies, and contribute as required.
- Support the development of the processes/procedures for the Design Organisation Approval (DOA).
- Support aircraft testing including structural, systems and flight test programs.
- Liaise with the suppliers and partners to ensure that the components and/or products meet the applicable airworthiness standards.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in airworthiness certification (TC and/or STC), compliance, or regulatory affairs in the aviation industry.
- Strong understanding of aircraft development and certification process (including the key milestones & deliverables).
- Knowledge of EASA/FAA Part 21 or DGCA CAR 21 regulations.
- Strong working knowledge and experience in working with initial airworthiness regulations (EASA CS/FAA Part 23, 25, 27 or 29).
- Strong understanding of aircraft design and systems engineering principles and standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant industry standards and guidelines (e.g. ARP 4754, ARP 4761, ASTMs, DO-160, etc.)
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
- Be able to communicate complex certification processes to non-cert team members and plan the schedules/deliverables accordingly.
- Independent, self-motivated go-getter!
- Experience with emerging aviation technologies, including electric propulsion and/or Powered-Lift category aircraft.
- Certification or training in airworthiness engineering from a recognized aviation authority.
- Experience working with Performance Based Regulations (EASA CS-23 Amdt. 5 or FAA Part 23 Amdt. 64 and on) and/or VTOL/Powered-lift regulations (EASA SC-VTOL or FAA AC 21.17-04).
- Experience in Safety Assessment techniques (PSSA, FHA, FMEA, SSA)
- Involvement in working groups related to the development of aviation standards (EUROCAE, GAMA, etc.).
