Backend Engineer

At Sano, we are building a platform that accelerates research in precision medicine by making it faster and easier to run large-scale genetic testing studies. As a Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with the Product team to design and implement essential components of our platform, ensuring robust and scalable solutions that drive our mission forward.

📬 What you'll be doing:

• Design, build, and maintain server-side services and applications.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Provide detailed code review feedback, track and reduce the number of bugs, improve code coverage through unit tests, and actively manage technical debt.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust APIs and integrations, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Propose and design clean, flexible, and scalable solutions to meet evolving business needs.
• Regularly maintain, refactor, and enhance existing services to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Support the team in improving documentation, enhancing developer experience, and promoting best practices.
• Monitor and optimize system performance metrics such as server uptime, response times, and error rates.
• Implement and monitor security measures, contributing to reducing the number of security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Foster collaboration within the team, contributing to increased productivity and successful project completions.

🫵 This job is for you if you:

• Have proven experience in designing and implementing robust, scalable REST APIs.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement new features and extend existing functionalities.
• Are proficient in SQL and have experience with ORMs (we use SQLAlchemy).
• Have strong proficiency in backend languages such as Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Go.
• Possess knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures in applications.
• Are familiar with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Have experience with DevOps tools and practices, including Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Have experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Can write clear and concise documentation for code, APIs, and system processes.
