About the Role

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is a key member of a cross-functional manufacturing team, responsible for ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance within Rotary Blasthole Drill Assembly operation. The role supports a production model in which most components are sourced from external suppliers, while 100% of final assembly is performed in-house.

This position provides hands-on quality engineering support to operations, leads problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures that engineering, supplier, and manufacturing quality requirements are met. Quality Engineer operates with minimal supervision and collaborates effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization, from shop floor operators to senior leadership—to strengthen a culture of quality and operational excellence.

    • Dimensional requirements and tolerances

    • Material specifications

    • Weld symbols, weld types, and inspection requirements

  • Analyze incoming inspection results, supplier quality data, and nonconforming material trends.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Engineering to resolve supplier-related quality issues.

  • Support evaluation and approval of deviations, concessions, and waivers to ensure reliability and risk requirements are met.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze quality reports, defect data, scrap, rework, and field feedback to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action activities using recognized methodologies.

  • Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure quality records, corrective action documentation, and inspection plans are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal procedures and applicable standards.

  • Verify that corrective actions and deviations meet defined reliability, safety, and compliance requirements.

  • Support internal, customer, and supplier audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.

Collaboration & Development

  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams to resolve quality and production issues.

  • Provide guidance, technical support, and on-the-job training to junior Quality Engineers, inspectors, and manufacturing personnel.

  • Communicate quality performance, risks, and improvement progress clearly to stakeholders.
