The Senior Director, Product Management, Tech Ops and Content and Services acts as an integral part of the Mobility (MX) Division of Samsung Electronics Canada. This individual will be mandated with executing product strategy and management across all Smartphones, New Computing and Mobile Enhancement products and supporting the sales teams by leveraging analytics and developing best-in-class programs, customer USPs, offers and sell out platforms to optimize investments and results. This individual will also lead the Services and Content strategy for the MX Division.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall product strategy across all Canadian channels: Carriers, National Retail partners and supporting online.  Your essential responsibilities include product selection, positioning and USPs that differentiates Samsung products as well as the creation of local pricing, programs, promotions and the selection of the appropriate sales channels into the marketplace.
  • Responsible to communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales teams and for developing or localizing the sales tools that support the selling processes and channel programs to enable maximized results. 
  • Provide the expertise on competition and market conditions, working with the Analytics team and using this knowledge and personal insights to develop the strategy to maximize business.
  • Manage the Sales Deductions (SD) budget, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and establish the Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) appropriate to the local opportunity.
  • Provide management and sales teams with required analysis on the Canadian market and accounts to assist Samsung Electronica Canada (SECA) with maximizing opportunities and avoid pitfalls.
  • Work intimately with the CAM's and Retail Managers to develop and track Joint Business Plans with their customers.
  • Lead and manage teams for special projects that will have an impact on overall SECA MX business.
  • Develop a Services and Content presence within MX for delivering messaging to partners and internal customers to convey Samsung's strategic DC direction.
  • Create a Content offering or strategy for clients involving other Samsung devices collaboratively through their stores, via a promotion or with compatible retailers.
  • Design and localize sales platforms to improve sales and services results (e.g. Trade-In, Samsung Care+).
  • Design and plan a strategic approach as a solutions based provider for select accounts.
  • Develops and implements strategies to support Samsung Services (Galaxy AI, Bixby, Samsung Wallet, Members and others to be developed). These programs will be designed with the objective of increasing customer engagement and retention for SECA.
  • Collaborate closely with the technical team to ensure that the product that is designed and developed delivers to requirements and meets business needs and regulatory requirements and roll-out schedules.
  • Communicate cross-organizationally with service, customer support, and operations to manage all aspects of new business/product roll-outs, and to understand product or process issues and address concerns.
  • Oversees project management and execution of divisional and cross-divisional initiatives.
  • Infrequent travel is required for the role, depending on business need, including travel to the company headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science or Engineering. An MBA or post graduate degree in management would be an asset.

Knowledge:

  • Segment knowledge in the areas of software, technology, mobile devices, mobile payments, mobile applications, wearables, accessories and internet devices.
  • Well established credentials from having launched technical products ideally in a mature market place.
  • Client or partner facing experience gained in a marketing, strategy, consulting, sales engineering or business development role, ideally leading teams.
  • Highly organized with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to confidently deal with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on stakeholder management, negotiation and persuasion, and comfortable working across different cultures.
  • An aptitude to learn and to innovate in a rapidly changing environment
  • A self-managed and self-motivated individual not reliant on praise in order to perform at an optimum level.
  • Exceptional at coaching and mentoring teams and people leaders such that it derives maximum performance.
  • An ability to deal with conflict and work to a positive outcome.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of team leadership and people management ideally in product marketing or management.
  • Proven experience in product lifecycle management with a focus on market assessment, competitive analysis and product launch ideally in the technology or telecommunications sectors.
