POSITION SUMMARY
Over the last few years, Samsung has been investing in building up a portfolio of engaging services across its devices to complement its market-leading hardware business, while leveraging its unparalleled global distribution footprint. These services, coupled with a vast partner network and proprietary data, generate a massive opportunity for ad-based monetization. Five years into this journey, Samsung Ads is a highly successful and fast-growing business. This business and its continued future success depend on the products, technologies, and tools owned by the Global Ads & Data Product & Engineering team. Hundreds of people strong, with a substantial presence in four countries, the Global P&E team is a fast-paced, dynamic and complex organization, operating across a broad spectrum of product and strategic domains.
As Site Lead for our US development site, you’ll be leading a large team of software developers who are responsible for critical products for Samsung Ads. You’ll be responsible for developing the organization, collaborating with other global site leads, and partnering with senior product and engineering leadership to ensure an effective global product development process.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience leading a large software development organization (including hiring, developing talent, and effective team organization) in a global context and in collaboration with other key software development sites. They will enjoy partnering closely with product management to understand why what their teams are working on is critical and will also be excited about partnering to make sure that all sites improve. They will be able to contribute to and set a vision for a high-functioning organization and effectively partner to make that vision a reality.
Skills and Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Lead, hire, and build an engineering team located in the US, including Mountain View and Plano
- Drive the execution of the Data Roadmap.
- Cultivate a world-class engineering culture and best practices.
- Evolve our technology in keeping with the needs of the business as well as industry standards.
- Improve organizational design, interfaces, and processes to optimize product development and quality.
- Contribute to the global P&E org by leading and managing a cross-regional functional area (e.g., tech support, documentation) and partner closely with other engineering sites to ensure success.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management to facilitate high-impact product delivery.
- Interface effectively with Architects, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and adjacent engineering and R&D teams to build and sustain high-quality and impactful platforms and products.
- Proactively engage with partnering teams, including in Korea, in a highly complex environment, to remove obstacles and pave the way towards successful outcomes.
Neccessary Skills and Attributes:
- Proven track record in successfully building and launching digital ad platforms and products.
- Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale engineering teams with a structured and deliberate mindset.
- 10+ years of experience in (and passion for) hiring, leading, and developing engineering teams within the Ads space or closely related sector.
- 15+ years of product development experience with strong track record of delivering high-quality products at scale.
- Computer Science/Engineering BS/MS/PhD.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Attention to detail and quality; striving for continuous improvements.
- Ability to work strategically and tactically (hands-on) as needed, with relative fluidity, little direction, and ambiguity.
- General interest and awareness of industry trends and developments in related sectors.
- Advertising technology domain expertise is preferred but not required.

For candidates in Mountain View, CA - the salary range for this role is expected to be between $335,000 and $355,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role
