Memory & Host interface - Lead / Senior Engineer

Position Summary

The Memory Solution Team (MST) Solution Product Development (PD) team is a new Team that is being setup in SSIR to build HW for the products like SSD, PSSD and Memory Cards. With this new capability, Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) will have End to End ownership of many of the Samsung products. The responsibilities of this team is to deliver best HW and debug for any quality or customer issue. The team will be responsible for power and performance characterization of complete system as well as individual block like Memory and Host interface.

Role and Responsibilities

1. NAND/DRAM Validation

• Bringing up the Memory (DRAM/NAND) Interface.
• Validate Protocol and do Timing Margin validation against JEDEC/ONFI/Toggle/Internal specs.
• Feedback to FW team for optimized performance and power.
• Debug and root cause the issues using Logical Analyzer.
• Automate the testing and data collection using Python or any other scripting language.

2. PCIe/SATA/NVMe/USB Validation

• Bringing up the Host (PCIe/SATA, NVMe/USB) Interface Perform protocol validation of the interface using exerciser / Analyzer.
• Perform Margin Validation for the interface.
• Feedback to FW team for optimized performance and power.
• Debug and root cause the issues using Logical Analyzer and Oscilloscope.
• Automate the testing and data collection using Python or any other scripting language.

Skills and Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of PCIe/SATA, NVMee/USB protocol and specs.
• Thorough understanding of JEDEC/ONFI/Toggle specs.
• Good understanding of DRAM/NAND protocol.
• Good programming skills using Python or any other scripting language
• Experience of using Logical Analyzer and Oscilloscope
• Familiarity with simulation tools like VCS etc. is a plus
• Experience in test strategy/planning
• Good written and verbal communications skills.
