SambaNova is hiring a Senior Physical Design Engineer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining synthesis and physical composition flow utilizing leading industry tools. In this role, you will play a unique and critical role in the development of the SambaNova DataScale® system and you will be provided with cross-functional learning across the hardware and software stack with opportunities for growth in a fast-growing AI system company.

Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain synthesis and physical composition flow utilizing leading industry tools, such as Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, Genus / Innovus
• Work closely with physical designers to address a diverse range of flow and design issues
• Collaborate with tool venders to address tool bugs and flow enhancement

Basic Qualifications

• BS or MS in EE, ECE
• 5+ years of industry experience in physical design engineering 

Additional Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of RTL-to-GDS flow and methodologies, with focus on synthesis and place and route
• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as TCL, Perl and Python
• Strong debugging skills
• Solid understanding of physical design rules, especially for advanced technology nodes 5nm and beyond 
• Familiarity with physical design reference flow and methodologies  

Annual Salary Range and Level

The base salary for this position ranges from $140,000/year up to $180,000/year. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
