THE OPPORTUNITY:

Although we’re proud of our history, we’re just as excited about the future. We want to create a world-class culture and company that attracts, develops, engages and retains elite talent.

At SalesLoft, our Engineering Manager is pivotal to our company’s success. You will be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing Engineering team. You will partner with other Engineering Managers in the company to lead and drive continuous process improvements and innovation as well as establish trust across the org with Product Managers, Support, Technical Operations, and peer engineering teams.

As an Engineering Manager, you will help engineers to develop their career plans and assign project work tailored to their skill set. In addition to working with amazing colleagues who exemplify our ‘team over self’ core value, you will also have the opportunity to manage and define processes and metrics for a team that supports impactful and revolutionary software that is changing the way sellers sell. You will have an opportunity to make a difference.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a visionary and technically adept manager to work with our team of Machine Learning (ML) engineers, with a strong emphasis on expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs). This role is crucial for driving the adoption and integration of LLM capabilities within our ML practices, ensuring these technologies are scalable, robust, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Your leadership will be key in helping the team to develop and implement best practices for LLMs, as well as creating the infrastructure and reusable components that will empower the entire organization. You will mentor a talented team of ML engineers, helping them navigate complex projects and pushing them to continuously elevate their technical skills. Collaboration and clear communication with cross-functional teams will be essential to ensure that our ML and LLM initiatives deliver significant impact and advance our company’s goals.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to lead a cutting-edge team at the forefront of AI, drive innovation across the organization, and play a pivotal role in the future of our ML capabilities… If you're passionate about developing and leading top-tier engineers in the field of machine learning and LLMs, then becoming our next Manager of ML Engineering is the ideal career move for you!

THE TEAM:

Our SalesLoft’s Engineering team is comprised of seasoned and up-and-coming Full-Stack engineers who are all aligned on one vision and mission:

The Engineering team consists of people passionate about solving the customer’s problems and who is unflappable in the face of technical challenges. They are also the epitome of our core values - Customers First. Team Over Self. Focus on Results. Bias Towards Action. Glass Half Full.

 THE SKILL SET:

  • 2+ years of people management experience or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to leadership roles, ideally with experience in leading ML engineering teams.
  • Experience interviewing, onboarding, and leveling up software developers and technical positions, and ensuring that multiple teams of engineers have everything they need to excel in their work
  • A proven servant leader with a track record of creating high-functioning teams
  • 10+ years of previous experience in the software development field - either as a software engineer or another technical leadership role
  • Strong expertise in Machine Learning with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), along with experience using ML frameworks and libraries like Spark, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
  • Experience establishing strategic relationships quickly
  • Ability to communicate across contexts and cultures throughout multiple departments
  • Adept at understanding the root cause of customer requests and pinpointing the correct way to solve the problem

  • Meet key players in departments that work directly with the engineering team
  • Gain a deep understanding of the existing ML and LLM systems, processes, and infrastructure.
  • Identify immediate areas for improvement and begin formulating strategies to address them.
  • Set Personal Learning Goals
  • Start conducting weekly team meetings

WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU'LL:

  • Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them
  • Identify metrics to measure the engineering team against and report on them weekly
  • Be able to help your direct reports start to achieve their career plans, providing input and guidance on capstone projects
  • Operate independently on hiring to staff the Engineering team and facilitate fair and equitable candidate reviews - offline coding exercises, interview questions
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on company goals.
  • Lead initiatives to refine and improve the efficiency of the team.

WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU'LL:

  • Fully integrate into the company’s engineering leadership, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Ensure that ML/LLM projects are delivering measurable impact and are aligned with the company’s strategic goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We prioritize job seekers as our customers, unlike bigger job sites, by charging a small fee to provide them with curated access to the best companies and up-to-date jobs. This focus allows us to deliver a more personalized and effective job search experience.
  • Salaries for the engineering jobs on our site range from $100K-$200K. On average, senior engineer positions on our EchoJobs are about $160K.
  • The EchoJobs positions have been sourced and vetted from the top companies to work for in the US as a software engineer, including LinkedIn and other reputable job sites. We also have syndicated jobs from companies that have just raised funding, as well as those that have great unique products and culture. From all of these sources, our founder, Morgan, has also resourced the company's authenticity in terms of their website, public appearance, and more.
  • Yes, our users asked us for just this, so now our search filters allow you to search for your top jobs via location, as well as by onsite, remote, or both. Approximately 30% of our jobs are remote, so you’ve got the best options for you!
  • We have not yet implemented this option, but are considering doing so in the future. For the moment, you would need to cancel your subscription, and resubscribe when you wanted to come back.
  • We add new jobs to EchoJobs every day! We scan our sources for the newest jobs, verify them, and post them to EchoJobs within minutes. We add about 2,000-3,000 new jobs for you each day!
  • From starting your job search to getting hired, the entire job search process can take us software engineers anywhere between 3-6 months. However, at EchoJobs, we’re striving to shorten this duration by finding the best, newest jobs for you, so you can do less job searching, and more applying.
  • We’d recommend checking EchoJobs daily, as we add new jobs to the site each day. Additionally, if you got a chance to read our previous email on “what makes EchoJobs different from any other job search tools,” we also recommended that you set a job alert based on your job filters, so if you get emails on those new jobs, you could be checking more than once per day.
  • If you decide to continue with us after the 1-month trial, we definitely recommend this, as we all know it usually takes 3-6 months to find a quality job as a software engineer these days. So to best support you, we just adjusted our membership options at EchoJobs to monthly, 3 months, or 12 months (this option is more for passive job seekers looking a little bit for the future if they want to come back to work or make a job switch potentially. This lets you see what’s out there in case an even better fit job becomes available.)
  • EchoJobs is truly the only job site of its kind. We want to be THE spot for you to find the best job for you, and haven’t encountered any other company doing this. Other job sites are in niches besides software engineering or focus on a small portion of engineering jobs (like a specific coding language). In the words of Morgan, our founder, “I think what makes EchoJobs different is the amount of jobs, frequency that we add new jobs (we add 2,000-3,000 new jobs daily!), and the powerful search engines to find exactly the job you want more easily and efficiently. We can provide you with the most jobs that are vetted by us, we’ll continually find more new jobs for you, and we make it easier for you to apply and get hired.
