We are committed to optimizing the Controllership function by harnessing technology-enabled process optimization, ensuring effective governance and ruthless prioritization across transformation efforts, centralizing and standardizing the portfolio and project and change management processes, and driving effective operational reporting and insights across the CAO organization. By owning standards, best practices, and cutting-edge tools for portfolio, project and transformation work, we ensure consistency, scalability, reliability, and agility in our operations.

Reporting to the VP, Controllership Operations, the Sr. Director, Finance Technology & Innovation will be responsible for leading a team of reporting and technical professionals to drive large-scale initiatives in support of the transformation strategy across the Controllership, External Reporting, Expense/Payables, and Payroll teams.

The role is responsible for working with various Controllership leaders to design technology solutions to improve processes and enhance how we use automation, AI, and other technology across our teams. Additionally, this role will closely partner with various Controllership functions to build alignment on scope and approach, business requirements and processes, and optimized solutions that deliver both short and long term strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader that has 1) depth in experience in data science, technology automation, AI and reporting; 2) strong executive presence, 3) excellent communication skills, 4) a strategic and problem-solving mindset and sense of curiosity, and 5) experience delivering technology transformation for Finance and Accounting processes.

This is an office-flexible role for Indianapolis, IN or Atlanta, GA. The candidate selected for this role is encouraged to be in-office 3 days/week to collaborate with their teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Controllership leadership teams to understand strategic objectives, define transformation roadmap, and create innovation plan in support of the long-term vision
  • Evaluate various technology options, including AI, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance processes, reduce manual effort, and drive operational effectiveness
  • Implement and deliver technology projects in an Agile fashion to drive quick delivery and demonstrate progress towards longer-term objectives
  • Effectively lead, empower and hold accountable direct team members and team members in a matrixed organization to complete priorities; ability to effectively manage third-party resources
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance team competencies and drive engagement and effective career planning for team members
  • Ability to engage with Senior Leaders and escalate risks and issues appropriately to them on an ongoing basis
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Controllership and other senior leaders on finance process improvements and technology integration.
  • Collaborate with the Controllership teams to ensure smooth adoption and integration of new processes and technologies.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience leading technology delivery, preferably for large-scale transformations
  • 5+ years driving and/or influencing significant transformation (at executive leadership level and below) to improve quality and achieve business outcomes
  • Strong understanding of finance processes, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in leveraging technology to drive finance process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Experience with Salesforce app development, AI/ML, Python, Snowflake, and data visualization tools.
  • Experience with other financial software and systems (e.g., ERP, accounting software).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in finance.
  • Experience in building, managing and developing high-performing and engaged teams
  • Experience leading teams through significant change with calmness
  • Ability to drive and realize strategic benefits through successful completion of technology projects, able to excel in a collaborative environment, build rapport, and influence leaders at higher levels
  • Self-starter with the ability to work through ambiguity and thrives in fast-paced and multifaceted environments and is able to deliver within defined timeframes
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) specifically being a great active listener and communicator, who can convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing to various levels of leadership
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor individuals through influence rather than direct reporting relationships
  • Ability to lead an engaged, diverse and global team that spans geographies and time zones
  • Demonstrated alignment to Salesforce’s values: Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, and Equality
  • Demonstrated organization with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated comfort in dealing with ambiguity and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in driving a “quality first” mindset
  • Experience with Accounting, External Reporting, Expense/Payables, and/or Payroll processes is a plus
  • Certification in Data Science is a plus
  • MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
