Sr DevOps Engineer (Storage)
Office hybrid in McLean, VA or Bellevue, WA

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Salesforce, you will be part of the Infrastructure Strategy and Datacenter Operations organization, a dynamic, distributed team delivering and supporting technology infrastructure to meet the substantial growth needs of the business. In this role, you will collaborate with the Systems, Network, Database and Storage Engineering teams in delivering innovative solutions in an agile and dynamic environment. A successful candidate will have the ability to communicate and demonstrate both deep and broad knowledge across multiple areas of information technology in support of a SaaS infrastructure. We are looking for hardworking technologists who thrives on efficiency by contributing to the development of standards, processes, and automation requirements that lead to operational excellence.

Responsibilities include:

• Must provide effort estimation and complete work based on a schedule of activities in coordination with engineering and project management leadership.
• Implement Salesforce production Change Management, Problem Management and Incident Response procedures
• Develop, document and drive standards across the infrastructure and ensure that we are fully aligned with those standards and policies
• Build and maintain infrastructure automation software and scripting.
• Detail operational processes and procedures to optimize support and management of deployed systems.
• Assist internal Salesforce Technology teams in performing production operations tasks including systems monitoring, performing diagnostics, problem isolation and solution deployment by providing expert-level operational support (training and on-call support).
• Provide engineering critical issue support and technical expertise for storage-related issues

Required Skills:

• Be kind.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven ability (H/W and S/W) implementing high-volume, high-availability Dell storage solutions in a large enterprise environment (eCommerce or Web scale experience desirable).
• Proven experience and ability to work proficiently within server operating systems (Linux/Solaris) including file system, volume management software, and networking concepts.
• Minimum 4 years DevOps experience developing, reviewing and maintaining software code and applications supporting large-scale storage solutions.
• Advanced scripting skills in Perl/Python with the ability to provide requirements for task automation, and resource monitoring.
• Experience with the Cisco MDS, HBA firmware, multi-path software, and SAN fabric management.
• Experience in several different forms of replication (e.g. SRDF, TrueCopy/HUR, Oracle Image Copy).
• Experience with handling storage for Oracle RAC databases.
• Experience with command line tools for Dell, NetApp and Cisco MDS.
• Confirmed experience completing upgrades, capacity increases, and reallocation of storage resources.
• Mature troubleshooting and performance monitoring skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Hands-on experience with production hardware life-cycle management.
• Solid understanding of system hardening standard processes, methods and access control methodologies.
• Prior experience working within a regulatory compliance framework.
• A proven passion for excellence.
• Knowledge of SAN technologies (FCIP, encryption, fabric design and standard processes).

Desired Skills/ Experience:

• Knowledge of Agile Development or Scrum Project Management methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, conducive to team development.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
• Knowledge of ITIL Industry practices.
• Prior understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with public cloud (AWS, GCP).

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $184,000 to $253,000.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
