As a Senior Storage Engineer at Salesforce, you will be part of the Infrastructure Strategy and Datacenter Operations organization, a dynamic, distributed team delivering and supporting technology infrastructure to meet the substantial growth needs of the business.  In this role, you will collaborate with the Systems, Network, Database and Storage Engineering teams in delivering innovative solutions in an agile and dynamic environment.  A successful candidate will have the ability to communicate and demonstrate both deep and broad knowledge across multiple areas of information technology in support of a SaaS infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

This role will provide effort estimation and complete work based on a schedule of activities in coordination with engineering and project management leadership. The Senior Storage Engineer will Implement Salesforce production Change Management, Problem Management and Incident Response procedures.

• Develop, document and drive standards across the infrastructure and ensure that we are fully compliant with those standards and policies

• Document operational processes and procedures to optimize support and management of deployed systems.

• Assist internal Salesforce Technology teams in performing production operations tasks including systems monitoring, performing diagnostics, problem isolation and solution deployment by providing expert-level operational support (training and on-call support).

• Provide engineering escalation support and technical expertise for storage-related issues

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of demonstrated experience (H/W and S/W) implementing high-volume, high-availability Dell storage solutions in a large enterprise environment (eCommerce or Webscale experience desirable).

• 5+ years of Proven experience and ability to work proficiently within server operating systems (Linux/Solaris) including file system, volume management software, and networking concepts.

• 2+ years DevOps experience developing, reviewing and maintaining software code and applications supporting large-scale storage solutions.

• Experience with the Cisco MDS, HBA firmware, multi-path software, and SAN fabric management.

• Experience in several different forms of replication (e.g. SRDF, TrueCopy/HUR, Oracle Image Copy)

• Experience with managing storage for Oracle RAC databases

• Proven ability to conduct detailed performance analysis tasks as it relates to the entire storage I/O stack.

• Practical experience with DR testing and execution, RAID, data migrations, and business continuity is desirable.

• Experience with command line tools for Dell, NetApp and  Cisco MDS

• Proven experience executing upgrades, capacity increases, and reallocation of storage resources.

• Basic scripting skills in any UNIX shell and Perl/Python with the ability to provide requirements for task automation, resource monitoring and performance monitoring.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Hands-on experience with production hardware life-cycle management.

• Prior experience working within a regulatory compliance framework and solid understanding of system hardening best practices, methods and access control methodologies.

• Knowledge of SAN technologies (FCIP, encryption, fabric design and best practices).

Desired Skills/ Experience:

• Knowledge of Agile Development or Scrum Project Management methodologies.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, conducive to team development

• Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams.

• Knowledge of ITIL Industry practices.

• Prior understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Have experience with public cloud (AWS,GCP) as a plus

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $151,800 to $208,800.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
