About the role
As a Software Engineer at Safety Radar, you will be a key contributor to our growing engineering team. You will work on developing and maintaining both frontend and backend components of the Safety Radar platform, with opportunities to take ownership of features and platform improvements. This role offers a balance of hands-on development work and technical leadership opportunities in a startup environment.
At Safety Radar, you will:
- Develop and maintain web applications using React and Node.js
- Build and optimize backend services, APIs, and database integrations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy new features
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and development processes
- Work with cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines (AWS preferred)
- Contribute to architecture decisions and technical planning
- Participate in customer feedback sessions and product road mapping discussions
Required Experience & Skills
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (More experienced candidates may be eligible to start as a Senior Software Engineer)
- Strong experience building web applications using React/React Native
- Proficiency with backend development, API design, and database management
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, IaC, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Experience with version control (Git) and agile development methodologies
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL optimization
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and IaC
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and integration
- Experience working in startup environments
- Understanding of security best practices and code quality standards

Location & Work Environment
This role operates in an office environment with a work-from-home element in our hybrid schedule. In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, you will be required to view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time and may involve travel to client offices and locations from time to time on an as-needed basis.

Compensation Range: $110,000-$140,000 base salary plus stock options. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors and may vary from the amount listed.
