Description
Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company is seeking a Senior Data Integrity Engineer (Avionics Software & Data Analysis) in Patuxent River, MD. The Senior Data Integrity Engineer leads the analysis of avionics software and data systems supporting navigation and airspace integration capabilities. The incumbent is responsible for independently assessing system behavior, data integrity, and software performance, while providing technical leadership in certification efforts, systems engineering activities, and engineering documentation across multiple aviation platforms
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $140k-$175k annually (depending on experience)
Work Location: Full-time onsite with some telework (see onsite requirements below)
**On-site Requirements: This position is full-time onsite at Patuxent River, MD and may be eligible for reoccurring telework, but will require an onsite work greater than or equal to 85% of the work week”
Essential Functions:
Software and Data Analysis
- Lead evaluation of avionics software systems, including:
- Data integrity, flow, and correctness
- Algorithm performance and logical structure
- Complex data coupling and system interactions
- Analyze system outputs, test data, and engineering artifacts to identify:
- Discrepancies
- Certification risks
- Systemic data issues
Engineering Support to Certification Activities
- Lead or independently support certification efforts for RNAV, RNP, and CNS/ATM systems
- Review and assess:
- Requirements and design artifacts
- Compliance matrices
- V&V outputs and test results
- Provide recommendations for certification compliance and risk mitigation
Technical Documentation
- Develop and review complex engineering documentation, including:
- Detailed analysis reports
- Certification artifacts and compliance packages
- Test plans, procedures, and evaluation reports
- Ensure traceability, technical accuracy, and readiness for government review
Systems Engineering Leadership
- Lead systems engineering activities including:
- Requirements decomposition and validation
- Design evaluation and interface analysis
- Integration and verification support
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data handling and software performance
Team and IPT Leadership
- Serve as technical lead within IPTs
- Interface with:
- Government program offices
- Senior engineers and certification authorities
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
- Support task execution planning and technical direction
Requirements
Required:
- Strong knowledge of:
- Software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, logical design)
- System-level data flows and software behavior
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python)
- Ability to independently analyze complex technical problems
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Software analysis, systems engineering, or data analysis
- Working in engineering teams or IPTs
- Solid understanding of avionics systems or aerospace engineering
Desired:
- Experience with:
- Avionics software certification (RNAV, RNP, CNS/ATM)
- Data/control coupling analysis
- Mission or flight planning systems
- SETR or systems engineering lifecycle processes
- Exposure to civil or military avionics programs
- Experience supporting government customers (NAVAIR, DoD, etc.)
Education/Years of Experience:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline required and 10+ years relevant experience.
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
