The Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) software department within Raytheon is looking for a Software Integration and Test Engineer for the AN/TPY-2 Program. The department’s mission is to provide world class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ Agile Scrum and DevSecOps processes to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers.

This position is fully onsite in Woburn, MA, and will require travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.

What You Will Do

  • Support installation, integration, and configuration of new radar builds, software updates, and patches onto the AN/TPY-2 radar system, ensuring seamless deployment.

  • Support the troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex software and system issues in a Linux environment, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Execute detailed test plans and procedures to validate new software builds, ensuring they meet system requirements and operational performance standards.

  • Analyze system performance data to identify and implement improvements to the software baseline.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including systems, hardware, and cybersecurity specialists, to support the development and deployment of robust radar system solutions.

  • Support on-site activities, including deployments, system installations, and troubleshooting, with a focus on maintaining high operational availability.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of integration and testing processes, tools, and methodologies.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years or prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience with software development and debugging skills using languages such as C++, Python, or similar.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S government issued security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with advanced knowledge of radar systems, real-time software, or missile defense applications, particularly the AN/TPY-2 radar system.

  • Experience working in field-deployed operational support roles, including direct interaction with customers and end-users.

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira.

  • Experience with system integration labs (SIL) or hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing environments.

  • Experience with cybersecurity and information assurance requirements in a Linux setting.

  • Experience with demonstrating leadership abilities, including mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with software configuration management tools such as Git and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Experience in software integration, testing, troubleshooting or administration in a Linux-based environment.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
