The following position is to join our BBN team:

For over 70 years, scientists and engineers in diverse disciplines at RTX BBN Technologies have collaborated to solve real-world problems through research, exploration, development and prototyping. We challenge the status quo, pioneer new technologies, and create transformative solutions.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with C experience to join our Physical Sciences & Systems business unit located a stone’s throw from seaside Newport, Rhode Island. Your primary responsibility will be leading a small team of developers performing Linux and Windows software development for real-time platforms. The ideal candidate has experience with taking systems from development to production including breaking down existing code and optimizing for maintainability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement control systems, signal processing. and physical system representations primarily in MATLAB and SIMULINK.
• Lead research and development in technical areas including supporting proposal and program planning efforts.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team testing your contributions and analyzing performance.
• Integrate components you develop into a larger system in preparation for real world testing and deployment.
• Participate in system testing (on-site and at our customer’s sites), associated data analysis, and reporting.
• Author technical reports.
• Make a difference to our national defense.
• Position may require some amount of overnight travel.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, or relevant discipline; plus 8 years of experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Algorithm development experience in MATLAB or Python.
• Physical system modeling experience (SIMULINK preferred).
• Experience with signal processing in application and data processing and analysis.
• Experience implementing real-time control system and signal processing algorithms
• Experience with system identification and testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience creating software development plans and leading a software team
• Familiarity with Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Coverity.
• Proficiency in one or multiple of the following: MATLAB, Simulink, bash, Python
• Proficiency optimizing algorithms in C
• Experience developing software for Redhawk Operating Systems
• Experience with deterministic processing and computing system optimization
• Experience with high TRL software development and maintenance

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
