Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

The Principal Quality Engineer will work within integrated factory value-stream teams to analyze, control, and improve product quality. The role involves evaluating measurement system capability; analyzing product and process performance; identifying root causes of nonconformities; and translating customer, legal, and contractual requirements into measurable quality standards.

This position is assigned to one value stream within the factory and includes regular review of quality data to identify improvement opportunities and support corrective actions.

What You Will Do:

  • Translate, analyze, and prioritize customer, legal, contractual, and internal requirements to develop quality performance standards and operational definitions.
  • Integrate performance and conformance verifications (e.g., First Article inspections and audits) throughout value-stream processes to prevent escapes, improve throughput, and support on-time delivery.
  • Analyze nonconformities, classify causes, and support development of containment and corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate corrective actions, closed-loop process controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage quality interface and product sell-off to downstream operations or customer quality representatives.
  • Apply statistical methods to analyze product and process performance, identify variances, and support root cause analysis.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree (in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience
  • Experience identifying root cause and implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions
  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications
  • Experience with descriptive statistics and statistical control methodologies, understanding drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control, and manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Experience developing and implementing robust process controls
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Six Sigma or ASQ certifications.
  • Knowledge of process characteristics and process control techniques in one or more Special Processes (e.g., Additive Manufacturing, Anodizing, Bonding/Adhesives, Brazing, Coating, Crimping, Heat Treating, Painting, Plating, PCB Fabrication, Sealing, Sintering, Soldering, Torque, Welding).
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to support interaction with various organizational levels and customers.
  • Ability to apply decision-making skills and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Ability to translate internal and external requirements into effective work instructions.
  • Experience with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Regression Analysis, Measurement System Analysis, Design of Experiments, and Requirements Management Practices.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional continuous improvement activities (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).

What We Offer

  • Whether you’re just starting out on your career journey or are an experienced professional, we offer a total rewards package that goes above and beyond with compensation; healthcare, wellness, retirement, and work/life benefits; career development and recognition programs.
