What You Will Do

  • Evaluation and identification of materials and processes based on program specification, design and performance requirements
  • Be a part of integrated team in design element, select and approve materials usage, substrate finishes, adhesives, and build processes in new and emerging programs
  • Lead supplier material troubleshooting issues
  • Lead or collaborate in analyses and reporting documentation of technical positions for alternate materials, obsolescence, and failure analyses


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 4 (four) years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and technical datasheets
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access required information
  • Experience leading technical teams or serving as a technical lead in a rapid manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge in material characteristics, material application, material selection and material design selection


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree and/or B.S. or Masters in Materials and Processing, Mechanical Assembly and Design Engineering, and/or Chemical Processing Engineering
  • Experience in Composites, Polymers, Environmental Coatings, and Processing
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient in presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Superior multi-discipline collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with data-driven approaches
  • Experience with material testing in an analytical laboratory environment
  • Candidates must have highly developed interpersonal, leadership, teaming and problem-solving skills.
  • Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected.
  • Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess
  • Skilled at planning, prioritizing, and executing projects/programs to successful completions.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
