Spokane carbon brake operations provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and knowledge behind how Collins airplane brakes are manufactured – from raw material to a full heatsink ship set. Partnering with site Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing leadership, you will utilize your strong technical and interpersonal skill set to uncover process improvements, develop methods to track and visually display said improvements, and communicate the success after improvement implementation. You’ll work with a wide array of personnel, from site leadership to shop-floor employees, gaining insight and knowledge to help develop you for a potential career in engineering support, operations management, or lean manufacturing.

What You Will Do:

  • Evaluate manufacturing operations to improve product flow utilizing strategic methods and/or software applications.
  • Develop and manage site-specific metric dashboards utilizing Microsoft suite applications such as SharePoint, PowerBI, PowerApps, or Python programming
  • Learn and utilize the CORE Operating System to facilitate Continuous Improvement engagements and activities.
  • Clearly communicate and present objective status and track/communicate progress to internal and external leadership.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience using Microsoft Teams applications such as Power BI as well as SharePoint
  • Experience with data mining using systems such as SQL/Python/Minitab
  • Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles such as, but not limited to, Value Stream Mapping, Mixed Model Value Stream, 5S/6S, Production Preparation Process, and Setup Reduction
  • Personable and social, self-driven and motivated qualities and characteristics
  • Solid interpersonal skillset – eagerly willing and able to seek and converse with shop-floor personnel and management to gain insight on project direction and implementation

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
