Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Engineering Associate Director in the Pratt & Whitney Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) module center responsible for a team of engineers supporting our military aftermarket and sustainment activities at military overhaul and repair depots.
What You Will Do:
- Act as the MSEN Oklahoma City/Tinker AFB Site lead who will engage with other site leads to develop strategic and tactical plans to support our military customer during overhaul and repair of P&W engines.
- Represent MSEN on the Engine Life Management Team (ELMT) leadership council tasked with planning and executing initiatives to improve the capabilities and capacity of the ELMT.
- Manage the MSEN ELMT, hiring and developing staff as appropriate, and act as a forward deployed representative of our operational military engine CIPTs for the F135, F119, F100, TF33, F117, and F139 engine models.
- Drive efficiency improvements to engineering sustainment activities measured in TAT (turn-around-time), throughput volume, MRO-E (manufacturing, repair & overhaul engineering) labor cost and hardware overhaul cost.
- Travel up to 10%, and must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City at the P&W facility and the Tinker AFB complex.
What You Will Learn:
- Experience with mechanical components and external plumbing systems products on multiple military engine models.
- Contract and procedural knowledge associated with aftermarket sustainment and overhaul of military engines.
- Military customer and Senior P&W leadership engagement opportunities ( Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), System Integrated Product Team (SIPT), Integrated Program Management Team (IPMT), Senior Executives).
- Talent recruiting and development.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant engineering experience to include leading process, people, or projects; or an Advanced Degree in a related STEM field and 10 years of relevant engineering experience to include leading process, people, or projects.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with aerospace hardware, specifically, bearings, seals, jet engine case structures, plumbing systems, and mechanical accessories like gearboxes and pumps.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership and team building in a cross-functional matrixed organization.
- Familiarity with aftermarket sustainment and depot MRO processes.
- Experience planning tasks and leading teams to execute on time and within budget.

Department/Segment Overviews: The Engine Life Management Team (ELMT) Associate Director and Oklahoma City site leader will be a member of the Mechanical Systems, Externals, & Nacelles (MSENT) engineering group within Pratt & Whitney’s module center engineering organization. The Mechanical Systems group within MSEN has engineering responsibility for engine lubrication systems and associated mechanical components like bearings, seals, oil pumps, oil tanks, gears, and transmission assemblies. The Nacelles group within MSEN coordinates engine installation into aircraft nacelles working with aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) and suppliers to ensure fit, function, and certification of hardware necessary for engine installation. Finally, the Externals group within MSEN is responsible for plumbing hardware for all engine fluid systems and provides engine accessories, electrical harness layouts, and attachment hardware. This job posting is specific to the Mechanical Systems and Externals product lines within the MSEN group. The role reports to the CIPT leadership within MSEN and serves as the forward-deployed representative of the CIPT at our military customer base for overhaul and repair.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
