The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that centers on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows our company to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

This position is an onsite located in our McKinney, TX campus.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in multi-discipline teams supporting primarily military programs through application of EE resources and design processes.
  • Work on the design, analysis and support of electronics products.

Including design or support work in the following areas:

  • EO/IR, digital, analog, sustaining and production electronics support, components engineering, and product development engineering.
  • Digital, analog, FPGA/VHDL programming or ASIC support, sustaining and production electronics support, components engineering, and product development engineering.
  • Transistor level analog and EO/IR design of Integrated Circuits using multiple modern semiconductor technologies.

Depending on the person's area of interest and experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Participating as a team member in detailed circuit design.
  • Configurable digital logic development using VHDL.
  • Functional analysis.
  • Functional verification testing.
  • Working with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot and provide root cause and corrective action to design and process issues.

What You Will Learn

  • You will learn and utilize applicable internal processes and tools for the development of system level hardware. In addition, you will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, concepts and techniques.
  • You will gain hands-on experience making recommendations for a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience.
  • Experience with reading drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
  • Experience documenting test results and repair recommendations.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Working knowledge of EE lab equipment (i.e,. Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, signal sources).
  • Experience with design instruments such as Matlab, LabVIEW, Keysight ADS, Genesys, PSPICE, Ansys HFSS, AutoCAD, Mentor Graphics Design Architect, Mentor Expedition Design & Analysis Tool Suite and/or DX Designer for PWB schematic capture.
  • Understand Ethernet, UDP, and 1588 protocols.
  • Proficiency in VHDL and Verilog.
  • Experience with ModelSim / QuestaSim.
  • Strong TCL scripting capability.
  • Experience with FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with Git or equivalent version control systems.
  • Experience with simulation-based verification.
  • Exposure to JIRA or similar issue tracking methodologies.
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink, including HDL generation workflows and integration into FPGA toolchains.
  • Experience supporting integration and test activities in a lab environment.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
