Right now, we are experiencing exciting growth and are seeking a motivated early career Systems Engineer to join the Short-Range Ground Based Air Defence (SRGBAD) Support Program based at the Centre for Joint Integration facility in Mawson Lakes.

The SRGBAD Support Program sustains and enhances the Australian Army's National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) ensuring it remains operationally effective against evolving threats.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills while contributing to a critical Defence capability. You will work alongside experienced engineers and subject matter experts, supporting activities across the systems engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to conduct investigations into technical problems and work with subject matter experts to contribute to the development of capability upgrades and enhancements.
  • Assist with preparation of design proposals, technical presentations, reports and stakeholder briefings.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of integration, verification and validation activities.
  • Support the development and maintenance of systems engineering artefacts, including requirements, design documentation and verification evidence.
  • Contribute to technical risk assessments, systems engineering reviews and engineering assurance activities.
  • Contribute to System Safety activities, including hazard analysis
  • Support configuration management and technical data management activities.
  • Maintain awareness of technical developments and emerging technologies relevant to the air defence capability.


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Defence, aerospace, communications, software, electronics, systems integration or other complex technical environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and model based systems engineering is desirable.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance. Eligibility requirements can be found via the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).

Travel within Australia and internationally may be required to meet the needs of the role.
