Software Engineer

The Software Engineer is a medium-level software developer with the ability to complete work assignments while meeting delivery dates and quality to meet budgets, milestones, and deadlines for assigned projects. All of the primary responsibilities and skills are assumed. The person in this position is expected to attain mastery of RSM’s SSDLC and know which SSDLC activities and deliverables are required, scaling them to each project. They can resolve moderate problems and lead the resolution of those problems while demonstrating expertise in a variety of technical concepts, practices, and procedures. The Software Engineer is able to work independently while making sound decisions that move projects forward effectively.

This role is expected to escalate issues to the Lead Software Engineer/Software Engineer Manager in a timely manner in order to prevent project delays and take ownership of estimating development efforts for these projects. The incumbent must foster a team environment where all members are included in the solution and leadership is aware of all actions being taken. Their team includes other Senior Engineers, Software Engineers, Business Analysts, System Architects, and DBAs. One of the primary responsibilities is to provide L3 Support for the Firm’s applications, which includes a timely response to Service Desk issues while managing our bug-tracking tool during the course of development and assigning defects to team developers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Design and development of software on various Web and Cloud-based platforms. Uses available technologies to create reusable, scalable, and maintainable systems and components.

• Analysis of existing systems, implementation of requirements, and change requests into design deliverables.

• Communication with project team members including assisting QA with software testing, assisting tech lead and project management with estimation, planning, and project status, and assistance with identifying project issues and risks.

• Review, validation, and interpretation of business and non-functional requirements. Interaction with Business Analysts and Business contacts.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer programming, Information Systems or similar field, or equivalent work experience in a computer-related field.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• C#.NET, .Net Core

• Strong understanding of a relational database (preferably SQL)

• Ability and desire to learn and keep up with new technologies and take initiative to do this without prompting.

• Strong attention to detail

EXPERIENCE

• 3 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area

• Experience developing scalable web-based applications

• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps Tools which contribute to the Software Development Life Cycle

• Azure DevOps, Microsoft SQL Server,

• 1+ years of Dynamics 365 development experience

• Microsoft Azure and Azure SASS (Key Vault, App Configuration, Service Bus, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Functions, Storage Accounts, etc.)

• Docker containers and AKS experience

• REST API Concepts

• Unit and Integration Tests

• JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, SharePoint

• Entity Framework, Visual Studio, VS Code
