RSM's Global Compliance and Reporting Services' team (GCRS) focuses on providing professional project/program management and coordination services with a framework to assist complex global businesses with their foreign compliance requirements. The GCRS team is made up of individuals located across the US & India primarily serving in a project management role for long-standing global clients of RSM. As a member of the GCRS team, we are looking for a candidate who would primarily support RSM's Global VAT team, serving clients to comply with their global VAT compliance obligations across the globe.
RSM’s Global VAT Team serves clients in the three critical areas of VAT Advice, VAT Compliance, and VAT Automation. Automation addresses the way that clients deploy and use tax engine to manage end-to-end VAT processes in business applications; Compliance provides an automated outsourced solution to manage, analyze, prepare and file VAT returns to tax authorities around the world; Advice helps clients navigate the complex technical aspects of VAT globally and ensures that they can meet their obligations effectively, accurately, and efficiently.
As an experienced professional, you will be part of the GCRS team primarily supporting the Global VAT team. You will have a key role in helping develop, grow, and manage the Global VAT team. The functional aspects of our compliance service (data manipulation and return preparation) are delivered by the Global VAT team in India, but there is a need to build our U.S. and Indian based team to provide quality assurance, process improvement, and client relationship management as an integral part of our wider VAT services. This is a technical role requiring a good understanding of VAT principles and processes with the expectation that you will work directly with clients to advise on process and data management improvements. Some travel within the U.S. is expected and we are looking for someone with leadership capabilities and aspirations.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordination of the preparation and reviewing of VAT/GST returns and workpapers to provide quality assurance
- Managing the practice compliance calendar, process workflows and client expectations during the compliance cycles
- Managing the correspondence with clients, RSM member firms, and third parties as part of the compliance service
- Coordinating with clients and assisting with the compliance outsourcing transition process
- Supporting the onboarding of clients into our technology platforms
- Supporting Global VAT administrative and financial aspects of the client engagements
- Advisory and business development tasks as required
- Managing client overall relationships and engagements
- Supporting the sales cycle and developing proposal and pricing documents
- Working with the Global VAT team and client stakeholders to advise on any potential data and process remediation steps needed for pre-engagement
- Teaming with colleagues in the U.S. and India to provide a coordinated client experience
- Identifying and supporting consulting/advisory opportunities identified as part of the compliance service
- Promoting our compliance service offering internally to generate more opportunities
- Delegating tasks to junior team members and coaching their development in compliance matters
- Carries out duties relatively autonomously with little supervision
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working with compliance and or project management technologies
- Experience working in a project management role or strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability and willingness to travel within the U.S is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Advanced Project Management Professional (CAPM) certification
- Experience providing VAT compliance services in a Public Accounting, Consulting, or inhouse role
- Advanced degree desired
- Professional tax/VAT qualification attained from a recognized tax training body (ie. Chartered Institute of Taxation, UK, CPA, JD-LLM)
- Experience maintaining professional relationships with business owners, tax directors, or other key stakeholders

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $82,400 - $156,200Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
