Job Description:
The Industrial Engineering (IE) Manager provides strategic leadership to improve site performance, including leading signature processes in the development and execution of the site strategy and key performance indicator targets. Additionally, the role is responsible for providing feedback to internal and external Stakeholders on progress of the site against its agreed targets and objectives. The IE Manager will also direct the activities and lead the development of their direct reports and will be responsible for network co-leadership with Central IE’s of brand, product format, and/or industrial product activities.
What are we looking for?
- An undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, other Engineering disciplines, or Business Management.
- The ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in managing or coaching teams is required.
- LSS or PMP Certifications are an asset.
- Advanced degree such as MBA or Masters in technical function is an asset.
- Advanced Level of Excel is required/Experience with PowerBI is preferred.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Site Master Plan
- Partners with the Site Leadership Team to develop/update the site’s strategic long term (5+ years) development plan. The plan includes infrastructure, Asset Health Check (obsolescence and Q&FS), capacity, and continuous improvement to drive key performance indicators and cost improvement across the site.
- Development of project timelines and prioritization.
- Collaborates with Segment Industrial Engineering to implement segment strategies to achieve long term customer service, inventory management, segmentation, and supply chain cost objectives.
- Utilizes global comparisons (like the Production Conversion Cost (PCC) Tool Kit) and other benchmarking tools to develop aspirational key performance indicator (KPI) targets.
- Provides an updated 5 Year Plan that aligns with the Site Compelling Business Need (CBN), and adheres to the longer-term strategic goals of the Site Master Plan.
Capital Project Development
- Collaborates with Site Leadership and Engineering, leads the capacity analysis, develops solution and quantifies impact to Site KPI’s including line efficiency (TRS), waste, labor, and production expense for all capital projects.
- Partners with Site Leadership to identify and prioritize Tier 3 projects that drive Continuous Improvement (CI) targets.
- Serves as the key liaison between Segment, Supply Chain, and the site regarding Tier 1 and Tier 3 Segment and Supply Chain projects. Partners with Site Technical and Engineering to develop the optimum supply solution.
- Leads the development and Major Project Authorization Requests (MPAR) process of Tier 1 and Tier 3 site generated projects, may also provide input to Regional Tier 2 projects.
- Responsible for the development of learning curves and target rates for new equipment and system.
Activities Management
- Owner of the Activities Management process for the site. Leads the site cross-functional team in the development and alignment of supply solutions to meet new business initiatives.
- Impact to utilization, capacity, and site KPI’s.
- Development of learning curves and target rates of new activities.
- Collaboration with Supply Chain and Segment on feasibility analysis and financial viability to support innovation, capacity, and supply chain efficiency.
- Manage the execution (development to start-up) of business initiatives (Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), Segment, Site, & Supply Chain) to assure timelines meet critical project milestones.
- Monitor and track performance delivery of actual versus planned KPI’s and financials.
Associate Development
- With the support and participation of the site leadership team, evaluate exempt and non-exempt associate performance.
- In conjunction with associates’ career goals, create development plans to ensure associates can reach their potential.
- Hold at least quarterly performance / development reviews with direct reports. Complete all assigned activities associated with the annual performance review processes.
Focused Improvement (FI) Pillar Leader
- Developing site capability in loss analysis and problem solving on the zero- loss journey.
- Identifies site losses and provides the tools/skills to eliminate.
- Leading site implementation and reapplication of the FI initiatives across the site, including building capability in FI and CI processes.
- Prioritizing site initiatives/developing charters.
Site KPI’s and Operating Plan
- Leads the development and delivery of the annual Operating Plan in conjunction with Service & Finance (S&F), including Key Performance Indicators and Production Conversion Costs with year-on-year improvement targets.
- Leads Site Period Connection Point review process.
- Monitors KPI trending and performance to support Value Streams and Site to deliver results.
- Responsible for the Site Rate Review and Master Capacity Planning (MCP) processes based on site standards and demonstrated performance.
Network leadership
- In some sites, leads unified responses for network activities around a specific Brand, product format, or industrial product.
