Software Development Lead

What is the opportunity?

RBC is standing up a new Cash Management offering for our US clients. This entails standing up a new Digital Bank for large Commercial Clients. This is a green field project to build a brand-new system to serve our corporate clients. You will be heavily involved in shaping the future technology landscape of RBC, by delivering key business values for a transformational project in our Banking Technology. We are looking for senior software developer and a seasoned technologist to build cutting-edge, client facing digital solutions in cloud environment - from scratch. You'll join dynamic and agile team of 30+ colleagues in Canada and US, building brand new solutions and redefining client experiences. We operate in the style of dynamic fintech, while leveraging the industrial strength of RBC as leading North American bank.

What Will You Do?

• As a Development Lead, you will lead the design and development of innovative, high performance digital solutions and integrate with new and existing systems. This role will encompass an end-to end delivery of Web Portals, APIs and Messaging. Lead software design meetings, analyze user needs and document technical requirements
• Closely collaborate with Scrum Masters, RTEs and Product teams to manage product backlog
• Lead software developers in high performance delivery of product features
• Collaborate and incorporate inputs from cross-functional teams (product, compliance, security, DevOps)
• Deliver high quality, high performance, and highly observable solutions

What Do You Need To Succeed?

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years in hands-on development of full stack software solutions in cloud environment. Azure or AWS preferred. Hands on experience with web development and Angular
• Excellent applied understanding of Microservices, RESTful APIs and Event Driven Architecture. Hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot and Container deployments for Microservices
• Hands-on experience with building highly testable solutions and code quality metrics. Solid understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery CI/CD. Experience delivering large scale solutions in Agile methodology. Experience with troubleshooting in a large, distributed systems.
• Great attention to detail

Nice to Have

• Experience with delivering distributed messaging solutions using Kafka and/or Solace
• Experience with Kubernetes deployments
• Experience with delivering multi-cloud or multi-data center solutions, Experience delivering highly observable solutions (SRE),Understanding of network topologies and its impacts on distributed solutions, Understanding of relevant Design Patterns and Best Practices
