What is the opportunity?

 

RBC Core Banking - Client Data team manages a set of applications and microservices using various technologies on different platforms.   As an open-minded Senior Full Stack/Software Developer operating within an Agile product team, your primary role will be developing new and extending existing applications and services (both client & internal facing) and supporting modernization activities within a diverse portfolio in support of business growth.  To excel in this role, being comfortable providing technical direction, design expertise, and implementation of applications for RBC Core Banking- Client Data team is a must.  This will include working with other internal development teams and infrastructure groups.  You may be required to work on multiple concurrent projects.  In addition, you will also be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the applications in a support role.

 

What will you do?

  • Work in an Agile team environment which is fast paced, fun and collaborative.
  • Together with the Project team and RBC solution architect, determine the best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.
  • Develop and deploy new technically aligned applications (Web applications, web services, Cloud computing solutions)
  • Conduct and contribute to design and code reviews.
  • Provide technology and application development expertise – Lead analysis, design, coding, testing, tracking, deployment.
  • Working with different RBC internal teams for software feature delivery, support, and bug fixes

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 5+ years' experience with Java 11 and Above, REST API/Microservices, Spring, Spring Boot (3.x), SQL.
  • Thorough understanding of data structures and proficient with SQL working with large relational databases (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server).
  • Solid experience in using and developing APIs and Microservices
  • Knowledge of GraphQL and BDD/TDD methodologies
  • Knowledge of developing distributed cloud applications (OpenShift, Docker, Azure); Hands on experience designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting RESTful API and interface specifications
  • Good experience with developing and maintaining streaming based systems such as Kafka, Apache Camel etc.
  • Good experience in using the IDEs such as Eclipse, IntelliJ or VSCode or VIM
  • Knowledge of security gateways and protocols (JWT, OAuth2.0, SSL Certificates)
  • Experience working within professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes and testing.
  • Strong experience with version control systems, particularly GitHub.
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, UCD, Helios, GitHub
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

 

 Nice-to-have:

  • Working knowledge of any AI models
  • Knowledge of major architectures style (message oriented, reactive, event based)
  • SOAP services knowledge
