What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a skilled Lead Engineer to spearhead the design and development of a cutting-edge data platform supporting RBC’s climate goals. This role will play a crucial part in architecting a hybrid on-premises and Cloud data ecosystem to enable seamless data integration, storage, and accessibility. Ultimately, you'll lead the creation of a suite of risk and analytics solutions vital to RBC’s journey to net-zero.

What will you do?

1. Architect and Design Data Platform: Lead the conceptualization and design of a robust data platform capable of supporting various data types and sources across the organization.

2. Develop Scalable Solutions: Create scalable solutions for data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval, ensuring high performance and reliability.

3. Implement Data Governance Framework: Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data quality, privacy, and security standards are upheld.

4. Integrate Third-Party Tools: Evaluate and integrate third-party tools and technologies to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the data platform.

5. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

6. Drive Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, and propose innovative solutions to enhance the data platform's capabilities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Lead Engineer or similar role, with a focus on designing and implementing highly scalable and self-serve capable data-intensive applications.

  • Experience with various types of solutions beyond data processing, demonstrating strong engineering practices and code hygiene.

  • Recent expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data management concepts.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in banking, particularly in Risk & Finance domains, is a strong asset.

Nice to Have

Prior experience developing regulatory frameworks in Market Risk, Credit Risk or Liquidity Risk functions.
