Position Summary

We are looking for an Application Engineer to support the growth of our PowerGen and Sustainable Solutions business in Indonesia.

This is an office-based technical pre-sales role, where you will act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) partnering closely with the Sales team to develop technically sound, commercially competitive, and customer-aligned solutions.

You will provide customer-facing technical support across the full spectrum of application engineering activities, including equipment sizing, system configuration, integration support, and preparation of technical proposals, drawings, and tender documentation.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience in power generation systems, technical sales support, and application engineering, especially within the 1–3MW diesel and gas generator range.


What you will be doing:

Technical Sales Support & Solutioning

  • Act as the technical SME, partnering with Sales to support customer solutioning and technical engagement.
  • Work closely with Sales Managers to identify customer requirements and propose suitable technical solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise in sizing, application, configuration, and system integration of equipment and complete system solutions.

Proposals, Drawings & Tender Support

  • Develop and deliver technical proposals for bids and tenders, including drawings, calculations, and supporting documentation in compliance with client specifications.
  • Support bid and tender processes by contributing to solution shaping and supporting pricing strategies through technical documentation and equipment selections.

Customer Engagement & Technical Presentations

  • Participate in meetings, site visits, customer presentations, and negotiations, communicating technical solutions in clear, business-focused language.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, consultants, and contractors.

Application Engineering & Compliance

  • Provide application guidance including load assessments, sizing recommendations, and ensuring compliance with local regulations, standards, and codes relevant to system integration and installation.
  • Coordinate with engineering and project teams to validate feasibility, technical risks, scope alignment, and cost implications.

Sales Cycle Technical Ownership

  • Act as the key technical liaison during the sales cycle, ensuring customer confidence and technical credibility.
  • Support product demonstrations, factory witness tests (when required), and customer technical training sessions.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Stay updated on market trends and competitor offerings within energy and power solutions, including control systems and emissions requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure activities align with company policies, quality standards, compliance requirements, and HSE practices.
  • Support additional technical assignments as required by the business.

Position requirements:

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in generator sales support, application engineering, power generation solutioning, or related roles.
  • Proven track record of supporting technical sales processes from lead stage to order closure.
  • Experience supporting technical proposals and tender documentation will be highly advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gas generator technologies, ideally in the 1–3MW range, including awareness of switchgear and electrical systems integration.
  • Strong technical understanding of power generation systems, including system interfaces, interactions, and integration requirements.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical details into customer value and benefits.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging customers and internal teams across different levels.
  • Strong customer focus and relationship-building capabilities.

Working Style

  • Strong team player with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical proposals and deadlines with strong attention to detail and responsiveness.

Education & Tools

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD layouts and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Familiarity with SAP is preferred.

Preferred Background (Highly Relevant Profiles)

Candidates with experience in any of the following will be highly relevant:

  • Generator of OEM environment and/or exposure to major brands such as Cummins, Caterpillar, MTU, Kohler, or similar.
  • Power generation solutioning for industrial plants, mission-critical infrastructure, or complex customer installations.
  • Experience supporting tender documentation and technical proposal development in an EPC, consultant-led, or contractor-led environment.
